Fort Erie, Ontario Public record for this application: 2020-0541-2 CFLZ-FM Fort Erie – Licence amendment The Commission denies the application by Byrnes Communications Inc. to amend the broadcasting licence for the English-language commercial radio station CFLZ-FM Fort Erie, Ontario, by deleting its condition of licence related to news. This condition of licence states that, during each broadcast week, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, three hours of news programming. Of this amount, a minimum of 30% (54 minutes) each week shall be devoted to local news of direct and particular relevance to Fort Erie and the Niagara region. Application 1. The Commission has the authority, pursuant to section 9(1) of the Broadcasting Act (the Act), to issue and renew licences for such terms not exceeding seven years and subject to such conditions related to the circumstances of the licensee as it deems appropriate for the implementation of the broadcasting policy set out in section 3(1) of the Act, as well as to amend those conditions on application of the licensee. 2. Byrnes Communications Inc. (Byrnes) filed an application to amend the broadcasting licence for the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CFLZ-FM Fort Erie, Ontario. NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE LOCAL FOOTBALL ATTRACTION NFL Fans Have Passion For Their Local Home Team By Michael LaSardo | VP TV Station Solutions | Katz Media Group YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A FACE PAINTER TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT If you find yourself at a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, the passion that fans have for their home team would be unmistakable. Same deal if you visit Chicago for a Bears game at Soldier Field. And most certainly in Seattle at the Seahawks’ CenturyLink Field. The fans in Seattle are affectionately dubbed the “12th Man” because their vocal support of their team can be such a game changer. This passion for local teams translates into ratings for local television audiences. And it’s not limited to the home markets that these teams represent. NFL teams have local fan bases that expand beyond the invisible DMA lines. When broadcast and cable air the exact same game, it’s broadcast stations with the HH audience advantage. Your instincts might tell you that an NFL team’s fans would most likely reside in the market in which the team plays. Well, our findings reinforce that hunch. Katz Television Group assigned each of the 32 NFL teams to a “home” DMA that’s measured using a Nielsen meter (Local People Meter or HH Set Meter). These 32 teams call 29 markets home. Three markets - New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco-Oakland - each have 2 local teams. This metered assignment of teams allows us to look at Nielsen Live+SD HH Ratings for all NFL games across the entire 2018-19 regular season. -

Callers share intimate details of their lives with Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and she is moved to tears. She tells ABC's "20/20" about growing up in a house with angry parents, and she cries. She is interviewed for a U.S. News & World Report cover story, and she sobs. She appears on "Oprah" and is overwhelmed with emotion after a young dad fesses up that he's been more concerned about bringing home the bacon than being with his kids. On this day, the country's premier female radio star is seated on a wrought iron chair on the patio of the three-story dream home that she bought a year and a half ago in an exclusive, horsy San Fernando Valley enclave. And it's happening again. Dr. Laura is recalling a summer teaching job three decades ago at a school for the handicapped in New York, and the tears are so persistent that her attendant media consultant discreetly disappears into the house for Kleenex. In those days, she had no values and no God. She was a basket case trying to cope with children who "would be dead by the end of summer." Then one day, she met a paraplegic black man in his 40s who was intently bending wires on resistors--extremely exacting, repetitive work. "How can you do a job that's so boring?" she remembers blurting out unthinkingly. -
