THE LARGEST THREE-DAY Every year, on the 3rd weekend in April, more than RODEO IN THE COUNTRY 35,000 people gather at the Red Bluff Round-Up to celebrate tradition — tradition of our western heritage, RETURNS TO RED BLUFF Tehama County and the great sport of rodeo. The 99th Annual Red Bluff Round-Up is scheduled for April IN 2020 17-19, 2020 at the Tehama District Fairgrounds. Top-notch contestants travel from across the country to have a chance at a slice of $300,000 in prize money. From world champions to rookies, Red Bluff is a destination for cowboys and cowgirls in April. steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping and a fan favorite, bull riding. Aside from the typical rodeo events, Red Bluff also offers mutton busting, horse races and the Wild Ride. The Wild Ride is an event that takes place during Sunday’s ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ performance, where contestants dress up in costume and ride a bucking horse. Cowboys compete for a saddle while attempting to complete an 8-second ride in their ‘wild’ costumes. In previous years, contestants’ costumes have ranged from Spiderman to “Where’s Waldo” and from the Beer Knight to Mary Poppins. In addition to rodeo performances, the Red Bluff community hosts 11 days of rodeo-themed events. Community participation include a parade, chili cook- off, pancake breakfast, cowboy golf tournament, a blood drive, various luncheons and a mixer at the local feed store to kick off the weekend. Rodeo action kicks off Wednesday and Thursday for slack, where cowboys and cowgirls earn their spot in the performance. Performances begin Friday at 7 p.m. with rodeo- packed action, specialty acts and horse races. Saturday’s performance begins at 2:30 in the afternoon. The Saturday night concert is always a popular event with award winning artists such as Tracy Lawrence and Aaron Watson.
