About a year ago, I read with horror of Havant Borough Council’s (HBC) confirmation of the building of 2,000 houses on the gap between Emsworth and Havant on all that green space (which I will refer to as ‘the gap’). Not long after that, I discovered Bird Brick Houses on the Internet, produced by a company near Alfriston in E Sussex. It is run by a couple dedicated to helping bird and bat life in the current climate of building houses on any available land including green fields.

The bird brick houses are designed with a my 20 or so year old property. We removed sturdy plastic box fronted with brick, or mesh four bricks and installed the bird brick house for rendering, to match the building where without any trouble. they are to be installed in a wall. The Baptist Church in Emsworth began in 1845, with the first church building opening in 1848. This church is now part of the old Church Hall. Arts trail launch event The Emsworth Arts Trail 2019 was formally launched on 4 April with a big reception at the Brookfield Hotel attended by over 400 guests. Most of the Arts Trail exhibi- tors were there together with family and friends. The event has grown from a mere six participants in 2001 to 107 this year. The Emsworth Artists 2019 summer exhibition will take place over the August Bank Holiday from Saturday 24 August until Wednesday 28 August in the Mountford Rooms at the Community Centre, North Street, Emsworth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Admission is free. Standards are always high as is shown by the pictures below which were exhibited in previous years. It was a great success last year encouraging our next gener- ation of Artists. Last year we are able to donate £1,500 from our proceeds as all the artists kindly donate 25% of their sales to the Community Centre. Crowds lined the streets of Emsworth for the 12th St George’s Day parade which was held on 23 April. Around 50 soldiers from 16 Regiment Royal Artillery, Thorney Island paraded up Queen Street and into the Square, accompanied by children from Thorney Primary School and a company of 30 veterans carrying the standards of many branches of the armed forces. Particularly splendid was a pensioner from the Royal Hospital, Chelsea in his bright red tunic. Petit Pain is open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Baguettes and pastries are cooked in shop daily. All produce is made to order, fresh and individual. Previous occupation: Malcolm Bond bought Petit Pain in 2015 as a going concern from the previous owner who had opened it in 2006. Malcolm had previously worked in tech- nical publications and recruitment. He works with his wife Louise, son Russ and daughter Flo. They also employ Jess, who is a friend of the family.
