(...) More immediately appealing were new works from Portuguese brand Munna – one of the highlights of Paris and an increasingly influential name, with its glamorous handcrafted furniture design that mixes a European contemporary upscale aesthetic with a number of 20th-century references. New designs included the Ferdinand sofa, with curvaceous pre-second world war appeal and a bit of 1970s disco thrown in, and the beautiful Empire folding screen, with overtones of the skyscraper architecture of the 1930s, as well as postmodern 20th-century design. Financial Times’s How to Spend It This Babe armchair is too cool for school…so buy it for the home instead Absolutely Magazine The sumptuous Soft & Creamy from Portuguese company Munna, reflects the company’s combination of traditional techniques and creative innovation. Mocoloco When we spotted this velvet chair from Munna we knew we’d discovered an exciting new shade of rose gold/copper that was going to be important. Scarletopus.com This new collection expresses Munna´s vision of traditional production highly committed to quality and detail. Infurma.es Since its launch in 2008, the Portuguese design house MUNNA has created highly anticipated and timeless pieces. Their booth is expected to provoke an emotional and sensory experience with strong displays, so be sure to keep an eye on this budding producer. World renowned for their handmade upholstery and inspired by the Art Deco period, the screen opens into four panels creating a three dimensional piece of sculpture. • The Golden Bough by Sir James George Frazer 1922
THE GOLDEN BOUGH BY SIR JAMES GEORGE FRAZER 1922 PREFACE THE primary aim of this book is to explain the remarkable rule which regulated the succes- sion to the priesthood of Diana at Aricia. When. I first set myself to solve the problem more hthan thirty years ago, I thought that the solution could be propounded very briefly, but I soon found that to render it probable or even intelligible it was necessary to discuss certain more general questions, some of which had hardly been broached before. In successive editions the discussion of these and kindred topics has occupied more and more space, the enquiry has branched out in more and more directions, until the two volumes of the original work have expanded into twelve. Meantime a wish has often been expressed that the book should be issued in a more compendious form. This abridgment is an attempt to meet the wish and thereby to bring the work within the range of a wider circle of readers. While the bulk of the book has been greatly reduced, I have endeavoured to retain its leading principles, together with an amount of evidence sufficient to illustrate them clearly. The language of the original has also for the most part been preserved, though here and there the exposition has been somewhat condesed. In order to keep as much of the text as possible I have sacrificed all the notes, and with them all exact reference to my authorities. Readers who desire to ascertain the source of any particular statement must therefore consult the larger work, which is fully documented and provided with a complete bibliography.
