The College started its journey with the vision of ‘Upliftment of the status of rural youth of neighboring villages through quality education’ and it provides education at an affordable cost to the youth of rural livelihood in various courses encompassing the faculties of Arts and Science. We have a team of fabulous/eminent faculty members who display boundless energy and intense commitment which keeps ethos of our College shining brightly. The Mayai Lambi College happily brings together sound academic achievements with an extensive vibrant co-curricular programme that includes remedial coaching, Fisheries, Yoga, Beauty and Wellness, IT etc. In games and sports too our college team does not lack behind the rest of the colleges. Many a time our college students proved themselves to be champions in the Inter College Sports Meet. We aim to develop the life skill, critical thinking and demeanor of lifelong. Website : www.mayailambicollege.in Yumnam Huidrom,Imphal West, Manipur - 795001 P a g e 2 MAYAI LAMBI COLLEGE PROSPECTUS 2021 A PROFILE The Mayai Lambi College was established as a co- educational college in the year 1981 with the specific purpose of providing in its initial stage, the Local Youths with access to higher education under the able leadership of (Late) Chungkham Rajmohon Singh, Ex-Minister, Fisheries and Power, Wangoi Assembly Constituency with the co- operation of the local populace. The college has been able to attract many students form far flung areas as well. At present, the college is situated at Yumnam Huidrom in Wangoi Assembly Constituency which is at a distance of 18 km. away from Imphal city. Thecollege stands on the edge of Heiningsoipat a scenic lake in the rainy season with myriad of lotus flower. The college is affiliated to Manipur Univeristy, Canchipur. DESIGNING YOUR FUTURE The Since the establishment of the institution of 1981 Mayai Lambi College has been trying with all its sincere efforts to provide access to higher education for youths from a particular area, which had been characterised by lack of college for a stretch of miles, up to graduation level following the academic curriculum of the affiliating university, viz. Manipur University, Canchipur. THE MOTTO OF THE COLLEGE It is an article of faith for the college that as much higher education as possible should be given to as many people as possible, the college has been giving its students a much more thorough training in mathematics and science and producing many more qualified graduates. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany and Zoology are offered in science stream. In the Arts stream-Economics, Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Philosophy and Physical Education the main branches of Social Sciences are offered in the institution. Among the languages and literature, the college offers English and Manipuri. All the subjects in Arts and Science stream, except in Physics & Chemistry, have Honours levels courses. In addition to the teaching programme of the courses, the college provides facilities for National Service Scheme, Art & Culture and Sports & Games. Annual Freshers' Social Meet, Literary Meet and Inter House Debating Competition are held in grand manner. FACILITIES LIBRARY The college has a well equipped library with adequate books, reference books, journals, Magazines, Newspaper etc. The University Grant Commission alone earmarks Rs. 2.5 lakhs for the college in every plan period for purchase of books and journals. The Government of Manipur has sanctioned Rs. 10 lakhs towards purchases of books & equipments for the College for the academic session 2015-16. The grant from UGC and college fund enables the college to stock its library with latest books, publications and encyclopedia keeping in peace with the libraries of other institutions. The library has 6876 text books and 2750 journals and references, the students of the college are provided with the facilities of getting photo copies of relevant study materials and information at nominal fees. Semi automation of library is going on. HOSTEL Hostel facilities for the girls in the college is available in the college campus. For the Girls' Hostel in the college campus has been constructed with the financial assistance for the University Grants Commission. Physical Education department of the college provides extensive facilities to the students in various Sports and Games both indoor and outdoor. Having groomed a number of sports persons of the State at National and International status during the last couple of years, the college proudly rejoices for its contribution to the fields of games and sports. The students can avail of the facilities of taking part in the Annual Sports Meet of the college and Inter College Tournaments and other sports events of the state. Mayai Lambi College often organizes and conducts Manipur University Inter College under the sports Committee of the affiliating University. Indeed, the college is proud of its Kabaddi players men's team who had been winners for four consecutive years viz, M.U Inter College Kabaddi Tournament 2011-12 at G.P. Women College, M.U., Inter College Kabaddi Tournament 2012-13 at Thoubal College, M.U. Inter College Kabaddi Tournament 2013-14 at Mayai Lambi College and M.U. Inter College Kabaddi Tournament 2014-15 at Thoubal College. Mayai Lambi College was the men's team Champion of M.U. Inter College Thang-Ta Tournament 2014-15 held at Mayai Lambi College. The boys team of the college won the runners- up at C.I.College Bishnupur in M.U. Inter College Kabaddi Tournament 2015-16. The boys team of the college won the winner in M.U. Inter College Kabaddi, Thang- Ta and Volleyball Tournament 2016-17 and the women's team won runners up in Kabaddi. The College won Thang-Ta Tournament in the year 2018-19 too. For educational tour sponsored by the State Government, students belonging to Botany, Zoology and Geography may apply for it; and for educational tours sponsored by UGC and a college student belonging to any stream may apply for it for educational tours sponsored by RUSA, students belonging to diploma course in fishery may apply. ECO CLUB The College has an Eco Club which maintains its environment. Main role of the club is to create environment awareness among the students. Currently Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is one of the six free services provided through Aanganwadi Centre (AWCs) under the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Scheme being implemented by Ministry of Women and Child Development. At present, there are 3.53 crore children in the age group 3-6 years who are beneficiaries of pre-school education in Aanganwadi Centre under ICDS.
