Long woodland trails, wetlands with boardwalks, lake, heath, grassy plains In Brief This is a fascinating walk of great variety, featuring long woodland trails, many of them unsigned, punctuated by some considerable surprises. The most notable of these is the Wetlands Centre where a boardwalk and good sandy paths keep you dry-shod, and where food and drink is available at the Heather Farm Café . There are no nettles and no troublesome undergrowth on this walk. Some of the paths on the north side are muddy in a wet winter but the lack of fencing means you can usually skip to either side. Provided you have good boots, you will enjoy this walk even (or especially) in winter. With very little road walking (and no stiles!), your dog will be very welcome on this walk. The walk begins at the Fishpool car park on Chobham Common, Surrey. The car park is just off The Gracious Pond Road. Implementation and Delivery 35 12 Next Steps and Summary 36 1 Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Foreword Welcome on behalf of the Committee of the Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum which has acted as the Steering Group for the Pyrford Neighbourhood Plan. In the summer of 2013, the Byfleet, West Byfleet, and Pyrford Residents Association (BWBPRA) was keen to see our three villages establishing neighbourhood plans under the Localism Act 2011 legislation. To this end, the BWBPRA initially allocated £1,000 to each village to cover initial expenses. This enabled us to propose the formation of the Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum at a public meeting in September 2013. The Pyrford Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has been led by local residents (volunteers), with the aim of preparing a Plan that will deliver the long term goals of a balanced and vibrant neighbourhood. Since September 2013 we have held many public meetings, online and paper consultations, to seek the views of local residents and other stakeholders, groups and businesses who share an interest in our neighbourhood area. An active website has allowed everyone to keep up to date with our progress and to make contact with us. In developing the Neighbourhood Plan we have listened very carefully to the feedback received through all these consultations and have worked hard to ensure that the Plan incorporates and reflects the views of the whole community. -

CANONS AND CORNMILLS A flat walk from the village of Ripley. The route follows part of the River Wey Navigation, which was one of the earliest British rivers to be made fully navigable, and is now a popular waterway for recreational boating. The walk passes Pyrford Church, Pyrford Lock and Ockham Mill, and close to the ruins of Newark Priory which was formerly occupied by Augustinian canons. Start point: Ripley High Street Grid ref: TQ 052568 Ordnance Survey Explorer 145 Guildford and Farnham Map: Distance: 9 km (6 miles) Typical time: Allow 2 ½ hours, with extra time for stops Footwear: Stout shoes, boots, Wellingtons Transport: Buses run between Guildford and Kingston via Ripley, Cobham and Esher (number 515, provided by Tellings Golden Miller). Buses also connect Guildford and Byfleet, via Ripley, Send and Woking (number 436, provided by Arriva). Get off at the bus stop in Ripley High Street by the Post Office. Parking: Car park on Ripley Green or at Pyrford Lock (point 7) Facilities & There are a number of shops and pubs in Ripley. There are public toilets on Refreshments: Ripley Green. The Anchor Pub at Pyrford Lock (point 7) serves food all day. This walk follows public footpaths and bridleways which cross private land. Use of the River Wey towpath is by courtesy of the National Trust. Take care when crossing golf course. Information is included for your interest, but PLEASE respect people’s privacy, keep dogs under control ... and remember the Countryside Code and National Trust byelaws. Walk Directions: 1. The most notable developments have taken place at Brookwood Farm and Moor Lane, the Hoe Valley Scheme and on a large office change of use project (Westminster Court, Hipley Street, Old Woking). 55% of completed dwellings were on previously developed land, 70% had two or more bedrooms, and 2.9% were of specialist housing. I live in Hollies Ave in West Byfleet and under the new proposals, our road, together with Woodlands Ave and Old Ave would now come under the ward of Sheerwater. My objections are based on the following; I live approximately 800 yards from West Byfleet village/train station and under the draft proposals I will not be able to vote/have a say on matters affecting West Byfleet, which of course is totally unacceptable. The needs of the residents of Sheerwater are different to those of West Byfleet I chose to buy a house in West Byfleet, not Sheerwater and have invested a lot of money into my property and therefore I am concerned in house prices. As far as I know no‐one has undertaken any investigation on the possible effect of houses prices, again totally unacceptable. I do no believe the proposed re‐generation of Sheerwater has been taken into consideration when calculating ward sizes, therefore will totally skew the sizes of wards once the re‐generation is complete.
