    Water and Wastewater Services for the Isles of Scilly Background The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Council for the Isles of Scilly, along with Tresco Estates and the Duchy of Cornwall, are working to put water and wastewater services on the Isles of Scilly onto a sustainable footing. This will help ensure they can meet the challenge of protecting public health, supporting the local tourist economy and safeguarding the environment, now and in the future. In November 2014, UK government launched a consultation on extending water and sewerage legislation to the Isles of Scilly to ensure that they receive the same level of public health and environmental protection as the rest of the UK. The investment required to improve services and infrastructure to meet public health and environmental standards however would be substantial, estimated to run into tens of millions of pounds, well beyond what the islands’ small number of bill payers could collectively afford. Therefore a water company operating on a similar basis to the rest of the mainland of the UK became the Government’s and Isles of Scilly’s preferred option to deliver this. A working group was established to take the process forward made up of a number of organisations including Defra, Ofwat, Isles of Scilly and Drinking Water Inspectorate. South West Water In March 2016, Defra wrote to all water and wastewater companies inviting them to submit expressions of interest in running the water and wastewater services on the Isles of Scilly. South West Water responded positively confirming the company’s interest.

This man of Europian importance created in the twenties of the 17th century the Duchy of Frýdlant in north-eastern part of Bohemian Kingdom, moreover he became the ruler of German Duchy of Mecklenburg, as well as Emperor’s vassal in two Silesian Principalities, Sagan (1627) and Glogow (1632). It is quite interest- ing to learn about his arrangements in individual domains and to see, how some general principles of his reign were combined with specifi c steps proceeded from older particular traditions. It also shows undoubtedly, that Waldstein was really brilliant organiser, administrator and lawgiver who deserves intensive attention of legal history.     Passengers to get faster journeys between Somerset and Dorset following bridge renewal at Yetminster January 17, 2020 Network Rail is to carry out upgrades between Castle Cary and Weymouth over a series of weekends this spring to provide passengers with a more reliable railway and faster journeys. Between January and April, engineers will strengthen tunnels, bridges and refurbish and renew track on the Heart of Wessex line, which links Weymouth and Bristol. The main area of work is at Yetminster in Dorset where a 129-year-old bridge crossing the River Wriggle will be renewed. This requires the closure of the line for six days between Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth from Saturday 15 February to Friday 21 February when buses will replace trains. Replacement transport will run between Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mill to connect with Great Western Railway (GWR) train services towards Bristol Temple Meads. Engineers will work around the clock to replace the deck of Yetminster river bridge, providing a new, a more reliable support for track. There will also be further closures over four weekends to complete the other upgrades to the line. With the new bridge deck installed, a long-standing speed restriction will be removed to provide passengers with faster journeys between Somerset and Dorset, whilst reducing maintenance requirements in the future. Mark Killick, Network Rail Wessex route director, said: “There is never a good time to close an important line for the area’s communities, and we are sorry for the inconvenience the closures will cause. “This significant piece of work to the bridge will be much easier to maintain and together with a reinforced tunnel and new and refurbished track, there will be a much more reliable railway and better journeys for our passengers.” James Wilcox, GWR’s Station Manager for Castle Cary, said: “This package of works will improve reliability on the route for years to come, and once complete and the speed restriction lifted, this will allow us the opportunity to improve journeys times.
