  • Billy Bush Says There Were 8 Witnesses to Trump's 'Access Hollywood'
The Washington Post Morning Mix Billy Bush says there were 8 witnesses to Trump’s ‘Access Hollywood’ comments By Derek Hawkins December 4 Billy Bush, the former “Access Hollywood” host, has responded to recent reports that President Trump has questioned the authenticity of video in which he can be heard bragging about grabbing women by their genitalia, saying the president was “indulging in some revisionist history.” Bush said that seven people, in addition to him, heard Trump. In a commentary Sunday for the New York Times, Bush said he was disturbed by reports from the past week that Trump has told allies and at least one senator that he may not be the voice on the 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape. “He said it,” Bush wrote, referring to Trump’s now infamous “grab them by the p‑‑‑y” remark made on an “Access Hollywood” bus. “Of course he said it,” Bush added. “And we laughed along, without a single doubt that this was hypothetical hot air from America’s highest-rated bloviator. Along with Donald Trump and me, there were seven other guys present on the bus at the time, and every single one of us assumed we were listening to a crass standup act. He was performing. Surely we thought, none of this was real.” “We now know better,” he added, referring to the women who came forward to accuse Trump of improper sexual advances. The Washington Post first reported the leaked recording in October 2016. It captured audio of then-candidate Trump boasting to Bush about forcibly kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women as the two rode to a soap opera set to shoot a segment.

  • Queen Anne's Revenge Shipwreck Project Volume 5, Number 1 Spring 2005
Update from the Queen Anne's Revenge Shipwreck Project Volume 5, Number 1 Spring 2005 Origins of the Queen Anne's Revenge Recently we had an inquiry from Nick Glenister in England asking about information that would help him build "a reasonably accurate model of the Queen Anne's Revenge". We asked Dave Moore, Curator of Nautical Archaeology at the North Carolina Maritime Museum, to reply. Remember that the QAR is believed to have originally been the French ship, Concorde, captured, refitted, and renamed by Blackbeard. Dave gave such a good response that we excerpted parts of it for your information. "The museum has actually had a hypothetical model constructed although no plans or drawings have been generated from that effort. We did quite a bit of research leading up to the construction and ended up using data from Jean Boudriot's treatise on the French merchant ship, Mercure.c.1730, as the primary framework for building the model. We figured we were probably safe building a model of an early 18th century French merchant ship. But there were two things wrong with that assumption that have come to light through additional research over the past couple of years. We now suspect the Concorde may have been built along the lines of a typical light French frigate, hence a bit different from our current model. Also, a document located in French archives strongly suggests that Blackbeard exchanged the ship, shortly after taking her, for a similar sized and armed English ship that may make all our assumptions mute. So, bottom line, we simply do not know what the QAR may have looked like apart from a general idea of her size, numerous guns, and three masts.

Flinn, Jr. (hereinafter "Flinn"), by his attorney, hereby respectfully submits his Opposition to the "Petition for Special Relief' (hereinafter "Opposition") filed by Comcast Cable Communications, LLC (hereinafter "Comcast") in the above- referenced proceeding. In support thereof, the following is shown: A. Background Flinn is the licensee of WFBD, a full power commercial television broadcast station licensed to Destin, Florida. WFBD has been on the air for less than seven years (i.e., the station commenced operation on September 5,2005). On September 19, 2011, Flinn served timely notice on Comcast that WFBD was electing mandatory carriage on Com cast's cable system(s) serving the Mobile, AL- Pensacola (Ft. Walton Beach), FL DMA for the three year election cycle beginning January 1, 2012 and ending December 31,2014. • Violence and Predation, Mainly in the Form of Piracy, Were Two Of
violence and predation robert j. antony Violence and Predation on the Sino-Vietnamese Maritime Frontier, 1450–1850 iolence and predation, mainly in the form of piracy, were two of V the most persistent and pervasive features of the Sino-Vietnamese maritime frontier between the mid-fifteenth and mid-nineteenth cen- turies.1 In the Gulf of Tonkin, which is the focus of this article, piracy was, in fact, an intrinsic feature of this sea frontier and a dynamic and significant force in the region’s economic, social, and cultural devel- opment. My approach, what scholars call history from the bottom up, places pirates, not the state, at center stage, recognizing their impor- tance and agency as historical actors. My research is based on various types of written history, including Qing archives, the Veritable Records of Vietnam and China, local Chinese gazetteers, and travel accounts; I also bring in my own fieldwork in the gulf region conducted over the past six years. The article is divided into three sections: first, I discuss the geopolitical characteristics of this maritime frontier as a background to our understanding of piracy in the region; second, I consider the socio-cultural aspects of the gulf region, especially the underclass who engaged in clandestine activities as a part of their daily lives; and third, I analyze five specific episodes of piracy in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Gulf of Tonkin (often referred to here simply as the gulf), which is tucked away in the northwestern corner of the South China Sea, borders on Vietnam in the west and China in the north and east.
