December 1: 12:00pm-5:00pm A “19 th Century Christmas” at the Butterworth Center and Deere- Wiman House, 817-11 th Ave., Moline, , Free family activities are planned for all ages, from Santa handing out books to children in the Butterworth Education Center to cookies and punch for all visitors in the elegant Butterworth Center dining room. December 1: 12:00p,-4:00pm The “Walnut Grove Christmas Walk” will take place at the Dan Nagle Walnut Grove Pioneer Village, 18817-290 th St., Long Grove, Iowa. This is at the North end of Scott County Park. Enjoy the historic buildings beautifully decorated at the Walnut Grove Pioneer Village from 12-4 p.m. Visit with Santa Claus and enjoy make & take crafts, refreshments, and much more. Admission is free with a North Scott Food Pantry Donation! Walnut Grove in the Scott County Park in Long Grove, Iowa, was a Scott County crossroads settlement and stagecoach stop in the 1860s. December 1: 12:00pm-5:00pm “Winter in Bloom” will take place at the Hauberg Estate, 1300-24 th St., Rock Island, Illinois. "Winter In Bloom." Come join a quad city tradition. It's a perfect place to take holiday photos with family and friends. Horse-drawn carriage rides around the park will be back again this year. Kids will enjoy fun crafts and games. There will be live music, cookies and cocoa for everyone. Come and see this treasure all dressed-up for the holidays. The event is free to the public and everyone is welcome.

December 3: 7:00pm The “ Community Band” is a combination of Black Hawk College Band Members and Community Band Members. The concert will include overtures, marches, popular music and standard literature for concert band. The performance will be Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the college's Quad-Cities Campus in Building 4, Hawk’s Nest (second floor). December 5: 7:00pm The “Black Hawk College Holiday Choral Concert” will take place at the First Congregational Church, 2201-7th Ave., Moline, Illinois. Three Black Hawk College choral ensembles will join forces to present a joint concert of holiday standards and new music. Several soloists and instrumentalists also will join the festivities. December 6: 6:00pm-8:00pm The ARC County Winter Party will be held at the Bettendorf Community Center, 2204 Grant Street. The admission will be $1.00. There will be music, dancing, and entertainment.

December 6: 5:30pm-7:30pm The “Hometown Holiday” in Eldridge, 305 North 3 rd Street, will take place from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Join us in downtown Eldridge, Iowa, as we celebrate the Christmas season! Businesses will be opening their doors from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to welcome you with treats, drinks, or goodies. December 6: 8:00am-9:00am The “Breakfast Nature Club” will take place at the Nahant Marsh Education Center, 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Learn the secret life of Iowa’s wildlife during this monthly class at Nahant Marsh. Each month you will explore the characteristics and adaptations of a group of local flora and fauna. A continental breakfast included in the fee. Feel free to bring your own coffee mug or travel container. December 7: Noon to 2:30pm “You Are Loved” Christmas Party will take place at the Opportunity Center (The old JB Young School) Locust and Main Street. Dinner will be served! December 7 : 2:00pm-4:00pm “River Bend Bronze Christmas Concert” will take place at St. John’s Methodist Church, 109 East 14 th St., Davenport, Iowa. The River Bend Bronze is an handbell group comprised of members from the eastern Illinois and western Iowa area. They perform both sacred and secular music at an advanced level, promoting handbell performance in the greater Quad City area and beyond. Their concerts appeal to a broad audience, both those familiar with handbell choirs and those who are not. All River Bend Bronze concerts are offered to the general public free of admission. A freewill offering is taken for those who would like to contribute to the financial needs of the group. RiverBend Bronze is a not for profit organization.

December 7: 9:00am-10:00am A “Guided Nature Hike” will take place at the Nahant Marsh Education Center, 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Join a Naturalist for a guided hike along the trails at the Marsh. Hikes are offered on the first Saturday of the month and give visitors an opportunity to experience the environmental changes as the plants and wildlife adapt to the seasons. Whether you are a regular visitor or first-timer, there is always something to learn at experience at the Marsh. Suggested donation $5. Register at 563-336-3370.

December 7: 7:30pm-9:00pm “A Holiday Program By The Vocal Ensemble QC” will take place at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 2400 Middle Rd., Bettendorf, Iowa. Music@St. Pete's presents the Vocal Ensemble QC in their annual holiday program, under the direction of Peter Grau. The concert features music both old and new, from Renaissance masterworks, to mid-century classics, to contemporary interpretations of favorite holiday favorites. The event will take place in the sanctuary at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bettendorf. All Music@St. Pete's concerts are free and open to the public.

December 7-14: 7:00pm-8:00pm The “Season of Light” Planetarium Show will take place at the John Deere Planetarium, Augustana College, 820-38 th St., Rock Island, Illinois. The planetarium show will be offered Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and weekday evenings at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but reservations are required and the program is not recommended for children ages seven and under. The John Deere Planetarium is located at 820 38th Street, Rock Island.

Our holiday show, Season of Light, created by Loch Ness Productions, uses images, video, animation and sound to tell the story of how our holiday traditions are connected to the sky above. December is the darkest month of the year and people all over the world have held festivals, lit candles and tried to bring light to the darkness of the winter sky. Season of Light also explains the seasons, the winter constellations and speculates about the Star of Bethlehem.

Leading the show will be Augustana’s Planetarium Director, Dr. Lee Carkner. Just outside the planetarium, full-color images from the Hubble Space Telescope and a quarter ton piece of the Canyon Diablo meteorite will be displayed with interpretive information in the Getz-Rogers Gallery.

In addition, Augustana’sFryxell Geology Museum, just adjacent to the planetarium, will be open for visitors the weekend of Dec. 7-8 from 1-4 p.m. and from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on the weeknights of Dec. 9-13.

December 8 : 5:00pm-8:00pm “One Starry Night,” a Bible Times Story Event for Families will take place at Asbury United Methodist Church,1809 Mississippi Blvd., Bettendorf, Iowa. Families will see, touch, smell, and taste what life was like when Jesus was born. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

December 13: 2:00pm-4:15pm “Recent Releases” is a chance to see those movies you just missed at the theater! Movies are announced one week from the date of the movie. Call the library at 563-326-7832 for the movie title of the week. Admission is free. This event is at the Eastern Avenue Davenport Library.

December 14: 6:30pm (Doors open) 7:00pm Scott County Wrestling will take place at the Walcott Coliseum, 116 East Bryant Street, Walcott, Iowa. Admission to watch the wrestling is $10.00 per person. Food available for sale.

December 18: 2:00pm-4:00pm “Afternoon Classics” is a chance to watch classic films from the 1930's-1960s starring your favorite actors & actresses! This event is at the Eastern Avenue Davenport Library. Admission is free.
