McGrath, an assistant coach on The University of North Caro- lina’s 2005, 2009 and 2017 national championship teams, was named the 11th men’s basketball history in UNCW history on April 3, 2017.

In his fi rst season on the coast, McGrath piloted the Seahawks to an 11-21 record and sixth place fi nish in the Colonial Athletic Association, fashioning an 8-5 home mark and reaching the semifi nals of the CAA Tournament. McGrath’s second year on the Seahawk bench in 2018-19 closed with an overall mark of 10-23.

McGrath, 44, spent 14 seasons with Hall of Fame Coach Roy Williams at North Carolina. He lettered four years as a point guard under Williams at Kansas and served on his staff in Lawrence for four years before moving with his mentor to the Tar Heel state.

McGrath is recognized as one of the nation’s foremost recruiters and bench coach- es.
