High School Dress Code: 2020-2021 HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE: 2020-2021 Students are expected to follow the uniform dress code policy at all times during regular school hours and as designated for special events. From time to time, the administration at their discretion may elect to observe “special” days where uniforms are not required. Unless notified of a “special” non-uniform day, students shall be dressed appropriately. In our attempt to establish a unified community, we are asking ALL students to adhere to these policies. If infractions/ violations occur, please see the Uniform Infraction/Violation section of the dress co. All uniforms are to be ordered through Lands’ End via the school catalog or online at www.landsend.com/uniforms. No substitutions will be permitted. When ordering from Lands’ End, PLEASE provide our preferred school number and logo number. (These can be located on the mailing label of your current catalog and in the next paragraph.) As a “preferred school”, Lands’ End will rebate 3% of total sales to Cross Schools. Scrip cards may also be used to place Land’s End orders. Lands’ End will accept orders throughout the school year; therefore, it is not necessary to order all clothing items at once. However, items are often placed on back-order which will delay your order. Do not wait until the first cool weather to order sweaters, jackets and long sleeve shirts. Accessories are not required to be ordered through Lands’ End. • Portraits in Family Shoes
Portraits in Family Shoes What does a shoe say about the wearer? Could your family be represented by drawing their shoes? What arrangement of shoes would best depict your family? Journal Exercise: Listing Exercise In your journal you will create several lists to help you start this project. On the top of the page and going across it list your family members. These will serve as column headings. If your family does not easily fit across the page turn so you can make your list in landscape mode. Under each person list their shoes. Underneath, I have started a list for my family. Start your list with shoes you see the person wearing the most, or that you think are particular favorites of the family member who wears them. You need not list every pair of shoes that family member owns (especially if the person owns 50 pairs of shoes), but try to list all of the shoes they wear often. You may then want to circle shoes you think are particularly emblematic for each family member. Shoes that really show their personality or role in the family. • What Lays Between Two Toes Deconstruction and Affect: Exploring the Tabi Boots
What lays between two toes Deconstruction and Affect: Exploring the Tabi boots Angelika Watta Department of Media Studies Stockholm University Master Thesis / Fashion Studies (30 credits) Spring 2021 Supervisor: Louise Wallenberg Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the affective capacity of the Tabi boots by examining the object through the ideas of deconstruction. The boots by Maison Martin Margiela were first introduced in 1989 and sold in different variations over the course of the past 30 years. Although there have been several attempts to acknowledge the importance of the body in fashion studies, scholars have not focused on the literal experience of wearing a garment, examined through the touch. Thus, this study begins with a close object study of a pair of Tabi boots and draws on phenomenology to capture the feeling of being dressed. The emphasis is laid upon exploring how the ideas of deconstruction are embedded in the Tabi boots while staying open to other theoretical inquiries. Striving to test the affective potential of the boots, deduced in the first chapter, the second part of this thesis moves from the perception of the ‘I’ to other wearers of the Tabi boots. In conducting qualitative semi-structured interviews, the aim is to understand how the characteristics of the boots may affect the wearer and how this affective capacity may lead to a becoming, as defined by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. Guided by ‘applied theory’, this thesis allowed material, theory, and methods to continuously interact and affect each other. Keywords: Deconstruction, Affect Theory, Applied Theory, Object Study, Becoming, Tabi boots Acknowledgements I would like to express my thankfulness to the interviewees for their time, insights and openness towards this study.

  • At Josefinas, Ballet Flats with a Twist
SUBSCRIBE FASHION At Josefinas, Ballet Flats with a Twist From Gloria Steinem to Leandra Medine, Josefinas is the new goto ballet flat brand. And they just opened a store in Nolita. by Gillian Sagansky July 21, 2016 4:30 pm When Audrey Hepburn paired skinny jeans with black ballet flats in Funny Face (1957), a sartorial phenomenon was born. Since then, the ballet flat has weathered fashion’s many phases: throughout the 60s by French New Wavers Anna Karina and Brigitte Bardot, on the glamazons of the late 80s (cue: Sam & Libby), and in the early 2000s as a reprieve from Uggs. And now they’re back again, this time from the far shores of Portugal. “I felt that I needed the perfect pair of flats to conquer the world. So I created Josefinas,” says 35year old Portuguese shoe designer Filipa Júlio who founded Josefinas in 2013 with her business partner Maria Cunha. A former ballerina and architect, Júlio admits the idea for her own line of footwear was a natural way to marry her passions of construction and dance. “[Shoemaking] was something I never expected in my life,” she says, “but now I can’t imagine my life without thinking about shoes all day.” After all, shoemaking is in her blood. Not only did she name the brand after her balletdancing grandmother, but her grandfather was a shoemaker by trade. “He probably influenced me without me knowing it,” she says. But as he never passed down any pointers on the craft, Júlio set out to learn the tricks of the trade from scratch.

Well-Heeled, Footwear Advice to Avoid Pain Sometimes heel pain can be aggravated due to the type of footwear worn. Relieving the pain can be as simple as changing the type of shoes you wear! In a recent American Podiatric Medical Association survey, 45 percent of Americans attribute heel pain to wearing uncomfortable or ill- fitting shoes. Shoes that fail to give adequate support to the foot can increase strain on the largest ligament of the foot, known as the plantar fascia, resulting in inflammation, heel pain and possible injury.
