Ing. arch. Ľubice Vitkovej, PhD., pripomína 25. výročie svojho založenia. V roku 1990 bolo na Fakulte architektúry založené samostatné pracovisko pre výučbu predmetov krajinnej architektúry a krajinného plánovania, ktoré bolo neskôr schopné generovať samostatný študijný program. Táto skutočnosť je impulzom pre zdokumentovanie 25-ročného obdobia náročnej pedagogickej a vedeckovýskumnej práce pracoviska, ako aj pre formulovanie predstáv o jeho ďalšom vývoji. Cieľom konferencie je vytvoriť pri tejto príležitosti platformu pre prezentáciu výsledkov výskumnej činnosti rôzne zameraných spolupracujúcich pracovísk, rôznych vedných odborov a profesií, ktorých spoločným vedeckovýskumným i pedagogickým záujmom je krajina. Key words: Landscape architecture, the Faculty of architecture STU, historical overview, summary of the activities Úvod a cieľ Keď si v prebiehajúcom roku 2015 pripomíname 25.výročie založenia prvého krajinárskeho pracoviska na FA STU – Katedry parkovej a krajinnej architektúry ako aj reálny začiatok výučby krajinnej architektúry na fakulte, je to príležitosť a do istej miery i povinnosť skúmať nielen charakteristické znaky a prínosy 25-ročnej činnosti pracoviska, ale aj predpoklady, ktoré tento administratívny akt umožnili. Rok 1990 celkom iste nebol prvým, v ktorom sa na Fakulte architektúry začalo hovoriť o krajine, no celkom iste bol prvým rokom, v ktorom na fakulte začalo oficiálne pôsobiť pracovisko, zamerané na krajinu a krajinnú architektúru a krajinné plánovanie. Cieľom príspevku je tak skúmanie predpokladov pre vznik samostatného pracoviska pre výučbu krajinnej architektúry na FA STU v Bratislave ako aj „zmapovanie“ jeho 25-ročného pôsobenia v pedagogickej i vedecko-výskumnej činnosti a „náčrt“ perspektív pre jeho ďalšie pôsobenie. Predpoklady Z historických dokumentov je známe, že v štruktúre Slovenskej vysokej školy technickej v Bratislave bol v r.1950 zriadený Ústav urbanizmu a za jeho prvého vedúceho bol ustanovený vtedy už dobre známy český architekt a urbanista, docent Emanuel Hruška. Východiskom pre jeho pozvanie na bratislavskú „techniku“ bola jeho dlhotrvajúca profesionálna aktivita, zameraná na problematiku urbanizmu a územného plánovania, ktorá sa v povojnovom období čiastočne orientovala i na územie Slovenska, a to jednak v polohe výkonného projektanta a plánovača, ale i v polohe autora mnohých odborných publikácií. Do čela urbanistického pracoviska sa tak dostal Hruška ako nadaný a rozhľadený architekt, ktorý bol neustále v kontakte s európskym i svetovým prostredím a získané impulzy dokázal interpretovať a implantovať i v prostredí domácom. Je nesporné, že v Hruškovom odbornom diapazóne nechýbala už od počiatkov jeho bratislavského pôsobenia problematika krajiny, dokladovať to môžeme jeho významnou knižnou publikáciou „Krajina a její soudobá urbanisace“, ktorá vyšla už v r.1946 v Prahe. Hruška dokázal identifikovať i anticipovať problematiku vzťahov územného rozvoja a krajiny a hľadal možnosti jej profesionálneho riešenia, či už ako teoretik, ale aj ako erudovaný urbanista a plánovač. Spomeňme aspoň jeho úvahy o biologickom univerzalizme a harmonizácii osídlenia a krajiny, ktoré neskôr uplatňoval i vo výučbe budúcich architektov a urbanistov. Zborník recenzovaných príspevkov vedeckej konferencie Krajinná architektúra a krajinné plánovanie v perspektíve, 7 Ústav krajinnej a záhradnej architektúry, Fakulta architektúry, STU v Bratislave, 1. – 2. októbra. 2015 Profesor Hruška budoval v päťdesiatych rokoch novozriadený ústav (neskôr katedru) ako odborne širšie orientované pracovisko, v ktorom popri ťažiskových urbanistických disciplínach dostala priestor i problematika krajiny, o čom svedčí viacero teoretických a výskumných prác a urbanistických a krajinárskych štúdií ako aj štruktúra výučby na odbore „architektúra a stavba miest“.

    FOREWORD FOREWORD Few people today realize that the environment is a conditioning factor for the existence of each one of us. All of its components and ecosystems influence its trend. Their situation today is changing not only within the local and regional scope, but also at the global level. Several places have shown improved quality of the environment thanks to building the environmental infrastructure. Through implementing legal, educational, economic, organisational, and other instruments we have been trying to increase environmental safety, appropriateness, loading capacity, usability, and aesthetics. These include also building flood protection facilities in areas with the highest risk of floods in Slovakia. The world is facing environmental threats of global magnitude. These include, for example, impacts provoked by the changed climate or gradual depletion of selected strategic natural resources. All of this occurs also in consequence of a continuing rise in the world´s population that exceeded the number of seven billion people. In many countries, this has spurred phenomena such as starvation, poverty, devastation of land and marine ecosystems, reduction of biodiversity, excessive exploitation of minerals, and enormous air pollution, water contamination and environmental pollution by waste. The UN Conference for sustainable development - RIO + 20 organized in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 addressed the already mentioned as well as other issues. The Conference hosted also the Slovak delegation. This global conference of the highest rank analysed the possibilities of reducing the impacts of adverse environmental situation in social and economic aspects and proposed measures for its improvement and for securing sustainable development. Many highly pathogenic viruses such as SARS-CoV and rabies-related lyssaviruses have crossed species barriers to infect humans and other animals. In this study we monitored the major roost sites of bats in Singapore, and performed surveillance for zoonotic pathogens in these bats. Screening of guano samples collected during the survey uncovered a bat coronavirus (Betacoronavirus) in Cynopterus brachyotis, commonly known as the lesser dog-faced fruit bat. Using a capture-enrichment sequencing platform, the full- length genome of the bat CoV was sequenced and found to be closely related to the bat coronavirus HKU9 species found in Leschenault’s rousette discovered in the Guangdong and Yunnan provinces. The National Parks Board (NParks) has developed therapeutic gardens in public parks that are not only designed with elderly-friendly features, but also alleviate the onset of dementia through therapeutic horticulture. Seniors enjoying Therapeutic Garden @ Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park On 19 September, NParks opened two new therapeutic gardens in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and Tiong Bahru Park. Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong, who was the guest-of-honour, officiated the opening of the two new therapeutic gardens at an event in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, together with Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development. Mr Kenneth Er, CEO of NParks, introducing Therapeutic Garden @ Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park to Minister Gan Kim Yong and Minister Desmond Lee Minister Gan Kim Yong and Minister Desmond Lee touring Therapeutic Garden @ Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park Woh Hup (Private) Limited, one of Singapore’s largest private construction groups, donated $500,000 through the Garden City Fund for the development of the Therapeutic Garden @ Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and its programmes. NParks will continue to partner with the community to develop a network of therapeutic gardens in parks across Singapore. This includes an upcoming garden in Choa Chu Kang Park which will be completed in 2018. In addition, NParks has developed customised therapeutic horticulture programmes, and will work with eldercare and senior activity centres to conduct these programmes in the therapeutic gardens.

    To be embargoed till 25 February 2012, 10am MEDIA FACTSHEET Park Connector Network Implemented by the National Parks Board (NParks), the Park Connector Network is an island-wide network of linear open spaces around major residential areas, linking up parks and nature sites in Singapore. It brings people closer to green spaces, enhancing recreational opportunities for all, and is an important part of our plans to transform Singapore into a ‘City in a Garden’. NParks has completed 200km of park connectors around the island, providing users with a network of green corridors and a wider choice of landscapes and distances for recreation. The North Eastern Riverine Loop is the fourth loop of park connectors developed by NParks after the Northern Explorer Loop (2010), Eastern Coastal Loop (2007) and Western Adventure Loop (2009). Over the next five years, the NParks plans to build another 100 km of park connectors. Three more loops of park connectors are in the pipeline. North Eastern Riverine Loop The 26km North Eastern Riverine Loop is situated in the Northeastern region of Singapore, which follows the natural coastline of Punggol Beach and the river banks of Sungei Punggol and Sungei Serangoon on the West and East side respectively. It encompasses Buangkok, Punggol, Hougang and Sengkang Towns. The loop consists of Punggol Park Connector (6.1km), Punggol Promenade (4.9km), Serangoon Park Connector (2.3km), Sungei Serangoon Park Connector (2.1km), Buangkok Park Connector (1.5km) and Punggol Waterway (8.4km – both ways). These park connectors serve to link four parks: Punggol Park, Punggol Waterway Park (along Punggol Waterway), Punggol Point Park (at Punggol Promenade) and Sengkang Riverside Park.

It is distributed throughout the island and commonly associated with ornamental aquatic plants. Although the species has previously been considered by some to be native to Singapore, its origin is currently categorised as unknown. Morphological comparisons of freshly collected specimens and material in museum collections with type material, together with DNA barcoding, show that both Physastra sumatrana, and a recent gastropod record of Stenophysa spathidophallus, in Singapore are actually the same species—the globally-invasive Physa acuta. An unidentified physid snail was also collected from the Singapore aquarium trade.

It is a full-fledged member of the National Council of Social Service but is not a beneficiary member of the Community Chest of Singapore. The Association was founded on 18 December 1969 by a group of 23 persons with disabilities. It was first registered as the Singapore Handicaps Friendship Club. It later became known as the Singapore Association for the Disabled and in 1976, the present name of Handicaps Welfare Association was adopted. It was set up as a self-help group (among disabled people) with various objectives focused on helping them integrate into mainstream society. HWA has been providing a range of programmes and services for its members and the public since 1969.
