No direct communication elas.been received from Hungary on the subject of the 1948 contribution but in January 1949 a payment on account, of approximately one - third of the total assessment, was received by the Organization's bankers. A3/51 page 6 Sent 21 July 1949 Notification of texts of resolutions adopted by Second World Health Assembly concerning arrears of contributions, and request for information. 17 November 1949 Reminder of letter of 21 July recalling resolution and asking for information. 13 January 1950 Telegram sent after examination by Committee of Executive Board, requesting information of date payment to be made. 27 January 1950 Telegram asking for reply to telegram of 13 January. 23 February 1950 Notification of resolution adopted by Board at its Fifth Session, and asking that payment be made. 14 April 1950 Telegram requesting payment or, if impossible, information telegraphically of present plans fore payment. Italy $ 5,962 (balance) Two communications have been received from Italy in cDnnexion with the 1948 contribution; the first, in reply to a telegram sent on 13 January 1950 after examination by the Committee of the Executive Board, stated that the 1948 contribution would be paid during February 1950; the second took the form of a payment to the 0rganizationls bankers on 28 January 1950 of $92,000, leaving a balance of $5,962. A letter, dated 21 February 1950, reminded the Italian authorities of the balance owing, and a telegram, dated 14 April 1950, requested settlement ;or, if this were impossible, information telegraphically of present plans for payment. Members having joined prior to 1 January 1949 but whi;^h áp arently are no longer interested in the C :rganizat,on No reply has been received to any of the communications on the subject of contributions addressed to the appropriate authorities of these Members, with the exception that a payment of $3,304 (one half of the 1948 assessment) was received from Bulgaria, as is shown in the statement. A3/51 page 7 Members having joined after 31 December 1948 but which were assessed in 1948 for their share of the debt of the Interim Commission Bolivia $ 1,705 Some correspondence was exchanged, early in 1949, with the Chairman of the Permanent Delegation of Bolivia to the United Nations from which it appeared to be implied that the Bolivian authorities were not satisfied that any liability existed for the Interim Commission debt. In August 1949 information was received that a further letter from WHO on this matter had been transmitted to the appropriate authorities. Ecuador 1 1,023 In January 1950 a telegram from the Minister of Health and Hygiene stated that the Ministry had sufficient funds in its budgets to cover all contributions and would make payment by monthly instalments beginning in February and a letter written to the World Health Organization in March stated that monthly payments of US $ 402.49 would be made.
