FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jeans ‘n Classics - Shower the People – The Music of James Taylor May 7, 2014 - London, ON Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario presents, Jeans ‘n Classics - “Shower the People – The Music of James Taylor” on May 31, 2014 at the London Convention Centre, to end the 2013/14 season. James Taylor’s music is personal, painful, joyful, and for more than forty years has been speaking to fans around the world, and no one honours it more musically than Jeans ‘n Classics vocalist, Neil Donell. "You blew me away!" These were the words of internationally renowned music producer David Foster when he first heard Neil Donell perform at Toronto's legendary Club Bluenote in the eighties. High praise indeed, yet such accolades are commonplace for this highly respected and sought-after singer. Originally hailing from Montreal, Neil has gone on to establish himself as the premier session vocalist in Canada. A veteran of more than ten thousand recording sessions, this multiple Juno Award nominee is often referred to in the media as "the most recorded voice in the country," and is introduced as "the man of a thousand voices" at the dozens of rock symphony concerts he performs annually across North America with Jeans ’n Classics. “Shower the People – The Music of James Taylor” selections will include: Sweet Baby James Smiling Face Handyman Fire and Rain...and many more Jeans ‘n Classics concerts take place at the London Convention Centre and are presented with exceptional sound and lighting, large screens for an enhanced visual experience, table seating and full bar and finger food available at the venue. JAMES TAYLOR Over the course of his long career, James Taylor has earned 40 gold, platinum and multi- platinum awards for a catalog running from 1970’s Sweet Baby James to his Grammy Award-winning efforts Hourglass (1997) and October Road (2002). Taylor’s first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA’s elite Diamond Award, given for sales in excess of 10 million units in the United States. For his accomplishments, James Taylor was honored with the 1998 Century Award, Billboard magazine’s highest accolade, bestowed for distinguished creative achievement. The year 2000 saw his induction into both the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. In 2007 he was nominated for a Grammy Award for James Taylor at Christmas. In 2008 Taylor garnered another Emmy nomination for One Man Band album. Raised in North Carolina, Taylor now lives in western Massachusetts. He has sold some 35 million albums throughout his career, which began back in 1968 when he was signed by Peter Asher to the Beatles’ Apple Records. The album James Taylor was his first and only solo effort for Apple, which came a year after his first working experience with Danny Kortchmar and the band Flying Machine. It was only a matter of time before Taylor would make his mark. PERFORMERS “ I SEEM TO WRITE A LOT ABOUT GOING FROM darkness to light,” James Taylor has observed of his songs, whose illuminations have provided insight, solace and pleasure to millions for more than three decades. He’s often been called a singer/songwriter, but that term fe applied in the early Seventies to describe Taylor and others who prof fered a more folkish, introspective retort to the rock & roll tumult of the Sixties - fails to recognize that he’s also incorporated all kinds of blues, Brill Building pop, Motown soul and country influences into one of the more unmistakable musical signatures of the rock era. His is a subtle, seductive magic, owing to the sturdy craftsmanship of his songs, the casual, amber warmth and Appalachian nasality of his voice and the utterly unique way he fingerpicks the acoustic guitar. With his second album, Sweet Baby James, he reached a large fol lowing early in his career that has stayed with him. Their loyalty owes as much to the consistent high quality of his work as it does to nos talgia for a favored set of tunes from their now-distant youth. Like the gangly Taylor himself, his career has legs.
