he Tbilisi-based Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama State Theatre Com- pany visited New York’s acclaimed performance Tvenues in lower Manhattan on January 9. Seven actors presented a production titled “Introspection - The Story About Us” for the local audience. The performance told about Georgia’s history from the Soviet era to modern times and was produced by director David Doiashvili. Also in New York was the Georgian National Orchestra which was conducted by Nikoloz Rachveli, who led an orches- tra of 30 musicians for a live performance comprised of works by popular Georgian composers from different eras. he Minister of Culture and Monument Protection, Mikheil Giorgadze, presented the famous artist and graphic designer, 90-year-old Levan Tutskiridze, with a special prize for his achievements in the development of Georgian art. TLevan Tutskiridze painted the Sioni Cathedral in 1980 and is also the illustrator of the books: ‘Holy Gospel’ by Chabua Amire- jibi, ‘Data Tutashkhia’ and the poem ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin’ by Shota Rustaveli, which is published in Armenia, Rus- sia, Japan and Germany.
