KCIce, an outdoor ice rink and beach volleyball management team, was notified of the burglary and contacted Patrick and Mandi Moran the parents of Saige and Eryka, the two children who’s equipment was stolen. Upon learning of the Moran’s situation, KCIce in conjunction with the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA)'s Goals & Dreams program decided to lend a helping hand and replace the stolen gear. “They had both of their bags with everything they have, including sticks, stolen,” lamented Patrick Moran, “You don’t know how much this means to them. My kids are addicted to hockey.” Eryka is a second grade student attending Parkway Elementary in St. Joseph, MO and plays in the ‘Squirts’ division for the St. Joseph Griffins Hockey Association. Her brother, Saige, is in the fourth grade and also plays for the Griffins. He will be entering the ‘PeeWee’ division in the upcoming season. “It was an unfortunate situation. Fortunately, with the equipment from NHLPA Goals & Dreams, we were able to keep two more athletes on the ice, and now Saige and Eryka can play in their tournament this week” stated Ken Morrow, KCIce President. Morrow is a former NHLPA member who skated in 550 NHL games over a 10-year career. He captured the Stanley Cup on four occasions as a member of the New York Islanders dynasty of the 1980’s and was also a member of the 1980 US Olympic ‘Miracle on Ice’ team. A native of Flint, Michigan, Morrow continually shows his passion for the sport of hockey through various outreach programs. “Our mission is to promote and grow ice based sports,” said Morrow. “Our relationships with the NHL, NHLPA, and the ice rinks we have built and continue to develop, allow us to see our mission progress. We have witnessed significant increase in participation in new skaters and hockey players.” Founded in 2006, KCIce, LLC is an outdoor ice rink developer and management group. KCIce is led by Ken Morrow, KCIce President, 1980 ‘Miracle on Ice’ Olympic Gold Medalist and four time Stanley Cup Champion, with Paul McGannon, KCIce Vice President and Founder of NHL21. KCIce manages The Rink/Sands at Burlington Creek, located at 6109 NW 63rd Terrance, Kansas City, Missouri.
