For the last 12 years, Zhenghua Merchants’ Association has been spearheading the annual Light-Up Ceremony, turning Bukit Panjang into a “mini Orchard Road” with its elaborate street light decorations during the month of Chinese New Year.
More than 1,000 residents showed up at this year’s Light-Up Ceremony held in January 2019 to witness the launch and enjoy an evening of Getai along with other stage performances. Residents say these lights add to the festive atmosphere, and have remarked to Mr Tan that the decorations are even comparable to the ones seen at Chinatown. Knowing that these installations are able to bring happiness to the residents, Mr Tan shared that he and his members will continue to work hard and bring even more beauty into the GRC through this ceremony. Launched on 2 March 2019, the Singapore World Water Day is an annual celebration with community events and roadshows lined up islandwide to heighten awareness of conserving water in the month of March. Students will also get to learn more about water saving habits through water rationing exercises conducted in FIND THE WATER SAVING HABITS schools.
Saving water is a collective effort and even the smallest of efforts go a long way. Everyone can play their part by practising these W-A-T-E-R saving tips at home!
