PARENT GOVERNOR – WEST EXE SCHOOL, EXETER West Exe School is a seeking a new parent governor to join our existing governing body. We are looking to recruit a parent governor who shares our passion, vision and drive and is prepared to go that extra mile to support our students. We are looking to strengthen our governance with an energetic and driven individual who can offer expertise across both education and business. As part of the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust, a charitable foundation trust, we work with schools in Exeter and the local community to raise the aspirations of young people to enable them to become fulfilled, confident, and motivated citizens and to be able to contribute actively to a democratic society. All students within the Ted Wragg Trust, regardless of social or cultural background, are motivated to succeed and make outstanding progress because their needs are met through creative, relevant and innovative provision. The Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust family of schools currently consists of Isca Academy, St James School, Cranbrook Education Campus, Whipton Barton Federation, St Luke’s Church of England School, West Exe School, Exwick Heights Primary school, and Marine Academy Plymouth. The Trust has trustees from the University of Exeter and Exeter College as well as from local businesses. The role of a governor is a voluntary post; however, we are able to offer training and personal development, extensive support from our wide network of governors and limitless opportunity to positively impact on the education and life chances of our young people at West Exe School. Our mission is to enable every pupil to experience the combined wisdom of the education system. The first and most significant was that we entered our fifth year. During that time we have learnt much about how to run a successful national network of local Hubs of schools with a common purpose of providing the best education possible for all our pupils, especially the most disadvantaged. Membership of the Network of Excellence reached over 300 schools. This increase came from some new Hubs and also the continual growth of our existing ones. The next milestone was our decision not to form a Challenge Partners MAT. This was made for two reasons. The considerable additional funding we would have had to provide to support its formation, and that our leadership team felt our role was to support those members who wished to form their own MATs and not to compete with them. There are now over 30 MATs in Challenge Partners, with more joining. Nearly a third of the schools are now in MATs and the numbers continue to increase significantly. This has caused us to focus on our core provision for our schools and that now includes the very popular weekly email and a national brokering service.
