Written evidence submitted by the Society of Homeopaths (AMR005) SUBMISSION FROM: Dr Angelina Mosley BSc (Hons) Cantab, MSc, PhD, LCHE, RSHom Philippa Fibert BEd (Hons) Cantab, BSc (Homeopathy), MSc, RSHom Joint research consultants for the Society of Homeopaths ORGANISATION: The Society of Homeopaths is the UK’s largest professional organisation registering homeopaths with 1300 members. Homeopaths registered with the Society have agreed to practise in accordance with a strict Code of Ethics and Practice, hold professional insurance and have passed stringent academic and clinical assessment before being admitted to the Register. REASON FOR SUBMITTING: This written submission by the joint research consultants of the Society of Homeopaths (referred to as ‘the Society’ from here on) aims to provide evidence-based suggestions for the role homeopathy might play in the effective treatment, management and control of infectious diseases in order to support the UK Government’s 5 year strategy for the stewarding and conservation of existing antimicrobial treatments. BULLET POINT SUMMARY: This submission argues that homeopathy, as a system of medicine, can support the UK Government’s 5 year strategy to conserve and steward the effectiveness of existing antimicrobial treatments and offer an avenue for the development of novel future therapies. We provide evidence to support our claims that: Homeopathy is a demonstrably effective treatment option for a range of human infectious diseases. Homeopathic treatment can be at least equivalent in effectiveness to antibiotics for certain human infectious diseases. Homeopathy can offer an effective alternative to non-essential antimicrobial usage in animal husbandry. Homeopathy has a robust track record of controlling, managing and preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases on a large scale.

  • Homeopathic Research Evidence That It Works
Homeopathic Research Evidence that it Works • There is actually a lot more scientific evidence that homeopathic medicines work than most people realize. There is certainly strong evidence that homeopathic medicines are more than a placebo. • Before discussing formal scientific studies, there are other types of evidence and information that homeopathic medicines are biologically active and clinically therapeutic. Friedrich Schiller New discoveries in the sphere of his activities, which cast the bread-fed scholar down, delight the philosophical mind. Perhaps they fill a gap which had still disfigured the growing whole of his conceptions, or they set the stone still missing in the edifice of his ideas, which then completes it. Even should these new discoveries leave it in ruins, a new chain of thoughts, a new natural phenomenon, a newly discovered law in the material world overthrow the entire edifice of his science, no matter: He has always loved truth more than his system, and he will gladly exchange the old, insufficient form for a new one, more beautiful. 3 Samuel Hahnemann Two thousand years were wasted by physicians in endeavoring to discover the invisible internal changes that take place in the organism in diseases, and in searching for their proximate causes and a priori nature, because they imagined that they could not cure before they had attained to this impossible knowledge. Little as we mortals know of the operations that take place in the interior economy in health - which must be hidden from us as certainly as they are patent to the eye of the all- seeing Creator and Preserver of His creatures - just as little can we perceive the operations that go on in the interior in disturbed conditions of life, in diseases.

  • Homeopathic Prevention and Treatment of Epidemics & Pandemics
Homeopathic Prevention & Treatment of Epidemics & Pandemics Sharum Sharif, ND American Association of Naturopathic Physicians August of 2019, Portland, Oregon Cholera, a Horrific Present-Day Epidemic • Cholera killed 1.1 million people in Yemen in just 2017 alone. • How BIG is 1.1 million? That’s approximately the population of the following cities in WA: Seattle(725K), Bellevue(144K), Renton(101K), kirkland(88K), & Redmond(64K) • 1.1m in one year = 3090 people PER DAY! (Note: Malaria also kills 3000 children/day.) • The national average public school student size is approximately 525 students (2018-19). So, 1.1 million in one year = 3090/day = number of Kids in 6 U.S. publiC schools/day. Why should we discuss epidemics and why should we prepare ourselves for them ? •Epidemics are on the rise, and they will be one of the main challenges we will face as a species increasingly over the next few years and in the future. •The biggest killers in history have been epidemic diseases. And, that is why we should prepare ourselves for them. What are epidemic & pandemic diseases? • EndemiC: Regularly found among particular people or in a certain area, and it goes on through generations. Example: • Cholera has been endemic in India for 2000 years. • Plague is endemic in the Western U.S., South America, Asia and Africa. • EpidemiC: Much more acute than endemic. A widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time. • PandemiC: Prevalent over a whole country or the world. What sort of epidemics are we referring to here? True epidemics are acute infectious diseases.

  • Arsenicum Album
Arsenicum Album Introduction: Arsenic is the horse's remedy; as Pulsatilla is the sheep's, and Antim. crud. the pig's. The reprehensible fashion of "doctoring" horses with Arsenic is merely an abuse of a therapeutic fact. The horse is an animal on whose power of endurance and "wind" enormous demands are made, and Arsenic is the remedy for the effects of feats of prolonged endurance. According to Teste Arsen. acts much more powerfully on vegetable-eating animals than on carnivora (opp. Nux v.); and it is suited to the effects of excess of vegetable diet, melons, strawberries, and fruits in general, especially watery fruits. Although arsenic can be poisonous in higher doses (2- 4 grains), it has also been used in some medicines. In the 1800s and early 1900s, arsenic was commonly used to treat diseases such as syphilis and psoriasis. A form of arsenic is still used to treat an uncommon blood cancer known as acute promyelocytic leukemia. In short, it gives the full picture of a cholera patient or you may imagine a dying man with burning sensation, continuously sipping warm drinks and wants to be carried from one place to another, with a cadaverous odor from his body. Kent says that from the very odor itself you may recognize an Arsenic patient as soon as you enter his room. Boerick says that Arsenic profoundly acting remedy on every organ and tissue. Its clear-cut characteristic symptoms and correspondence to many severe types of disease make its homeopathic employment constant and certain. Its general symptoms often alone lead to its successful application.

  • Letter to Mr Etukudo WHO June09
Mr Akpan Etukudo Division of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM) WHO Africa 23 June 2009 Re: Homeopathy for Epidemic Diseases in Developing Countries Dear Mr Etukudo In a press release dated June 1st The Voice of Young Science (VoYS) network1 announced that they had sent a letter to your office under the title: ‘Homeopathy and serious diseases in the developing world: an open letter from early career medics and researchers’. 2 In their letter the young scientists ask WHO … “… to condemn the promotion of homeopathy for treating TB, infant diarrhoea, influenza, malaria and HIV. Homeopathy does not protect people from, or treat, these diseases. Those of us working with the most rural and impoverished people of the world already struggle to deliver the medical help that is needed. When homeopathy stands in place of effective treatment, lives are lost.” We welcome the concerns VoYS expresses regarding the health of people in developing countries. It is because of the same concerns though that we come to the opposite conclusion, namely that we feel WHO cannot afford to ignore the contribution homeopathy has to offer in treating the epidemics of our time. In this letter we would like to explain why we think this to be true, and how we see that a combination of conventional medicine and homeopathy would create a win-win situation in which each can complement the other. From the VoYS letter it is clear that these young scientists express opinions on the use of homeopathy for epidemic diseases without having properly studied the subject, and without acknowledging some serious concerns regarding the current conventional approach.
