Andhra Pradesh. India Introduction Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] – a major cereal of the world after wheat, rice, maize and barley, is a staple food for millions of the poorest and most food- insecure people in the Semi-Arid Tropics (SAT) of Africa and Asia. Being a C4 species with higher photosynthetic ability, and greater nitrogen and water-use effi ciency, sorghum is genetically suited to hot and dry agro-ecologies where it is diffi cult to grow other food crops. These are also the areas subjected to frequent droughts. In many of these agro-ecologies, sorghum is truly a dual-purpose crop; both grain and stover are highly valued products. In Africa, sorghum is predominantly grown for food purposes, while in USA, Australia, China, etc, it is grown for livestock feed and animal fodder purposes. Unlike in other parts of the world, sorghum is grown both in rainy and postrainy seasons in India. While the rainy season sorghum grain is used both for human consumption and livestock feed, postrainy season produce is used primarily for human consumption in India. Thus sorghum is the key for the sustenance of human and livestock populations in SAT areas of the world. The grain is characterized by variations in colour (brown, white and light brown cultivars); high concentration of carbohydrates, dietary fibre, phytochemicals and essential amino acids; presence of essential minerals; as well as a gluten-free status. Finger millet (FM) in terms of nutritional composition, ranks higher than other cereal grains, though the grain is extremely neglected and widely underutilized. Nutritional configuration of FM contributes to reduced risk of diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure and gastro-intestinal tract disorder when absorbed in the body. Utilization of the grain therefore involves traditional and other processing methods such as soaking, malting, cooking, fermentation, popping and radiation. These processes are utilised to improve the dietetic and sensory properties of FM and equally assist in the reduction of anti-nutritional and inhibitory activities of phenols, phytic acids and tannins. However, with little research and innovation on FM as compared to conventional cereals, there is the need for further studies on processing methods, nutritional composition, health benefits and valorization with a view to commercialization of FM grains. HYBRID SORGHUM SEED CERTIFICATION STANDARDS (1988) I. Application and Amplification of General Certification Standards A. The General Seed Certification Standards, as adopted by the association are basic and together with the following specific standards constitute the standards for certification of seed stock and commercial hybrid sorghum seed. B. The General Standards are amplified to apply specifically to hybrid sorghum seed 1. Section III. Eligibility Requirements for Certification of Crop Varieties a. The name under which hybrid shall be certified shall be the same as the designation given by the originator or the originating agency and must represent a specific combination that has been tested by a state or governmental agricultural experiment station or certifying agency. b. A commercial hybrid is one to be planted for any use except seed. c. Foundation seed stocks shall consist of male steriles, inbred lines, and/or hybrids to be used in the production of seed for commercial hybrids. 2. Section IV. Restrictions on number of Varieties If seed of more than one hybrid or seed stock is produced mechanical mixing and crossing must be avoided. 3. Section V. Classes and Sources of Certified Seed a. Only the class “certified” is recognized in seed of commercial sorghum hybrids. b. A commercial hybrid to be certified must be produced from foundation seed stocks approved by the agricultural experiment station and / or certifying agency. 23-1 II. Land Requirements No sorghum shall have been grown on the land the previous year or the requirement is waived if the previous crop was of the same variety and of a certified class equal or superior to that of the crop seeded. -

INTRODUCTION The use of “alternative grains,” also known as ancient grains, climate-smart grains, nutrigrains, or traditional grains, like sorghum and millets in modern food products, is becoming common across the world. This is taking place in order to address several socioeconomic trends, especially changing lifestyles (e.g., urbanization, working mothers, and single-parent families) and also consumer nutrition, health, and ethical concerns about obesity and type 2 diabetes, allergies, and environmental sustainability (Taylor and Awika, 2017). For example, sorghum and millets are increasingly being explored in gluten-free applications targeting consumers who suffer from celiac dis- ease and intolerances to wheat and related cereals. Another perceived advantage of sorghum and millets is their completely genetically modified organism (GMO)-free nature that can allow them to be used in specialty products such as organic foods and humanitarian aid for countries with GMO restrictions. Introduction 1. The Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption was established pursuant to article 63 of the Convention to, inter alia, promote and review the implementation of the Convention. 2. In accordance with article 63, paragraph 7, of the Convention, the Conference established at its third session, held in Doha from 9 to 13 November 2009, the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the Convention. The Mechanism was established also pursuant to article 4, paragraph 1, of the Convention, which states that States parties shall carry out their obligations under the Convention in a manner consistent with the principles of sovereign equality and territorial integrity of States and of non-intervention in the domestic affairs of other States. 3. The Review Mechanism is an intergovernmental process whose overall goal is to assist States parties in implementing the Convention. 4. The review process is based on the terms of reference of the Review Mechanism. II. Process 5. These are notable in parts of West Africa in addition to one species in India. The grains are very small. The name (borrowed by English from French) is from Wolof foño "Digitaria exilis," itself from one of the Mande languages (cf. Bambara fini).[1] Fonio 2 Types White fonio (Digitaria exilis) White fonio (D. exilis), also called "hungry rice," is the most important of a diverse group of wild and domesticated Digitaria species that are harvested in the savannas of West Africa. Fonio has the smallest seeds of all species of millet. It has potential to improve nutrition, boost food security, foster rural development and support sustainable use of the land. Fonio has continued to be important locally because it is both nutritious and one of the world's fastest growing cereals, reaching maturity in as little as six to eight weeks. It is a crop that can be relied on in semi-arid areas with poor soils, where rains are brief and unreliable. The grains are used in porridge and couscous, for bread, and for beer. Some regions in which this crop is important are the Fouta Djallon region of Guinea, the Akposso area of Togo and Central Nigeria. In Togo, fonio (called ɔva) is primarily a women's crop; it and cowpeas are used to make a traditional dish. -

Users your never ending, T for All by 2016.” relentless commitment towards CRMS is beginning to bear fruits as evidenced by the October 2012-March 2013 gauging results. When the lowest court in rating used to garner as little as 35% , this time the last court has garnered a comfortable 53%. And the highest court this time has also broken record. At 89%, this is the highest ever for the number one station in the history of gauging. This is remarkable!!! However we have not completely won the battle, our criminal cases and scanning are still the areas that need our special Mission attention. What needs to be done?
