    Current World Environment Vol. 1(2), 139-144 (2006) Assesment of ground water quality of Pali district (Rajasthan) JAIPAL GARG and GITA SETH Department of Chemistry, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur - 302 004 (India) (Received: July 12, 2006; Accepted: September 21, 2006) ABSTRACT An assessment of physico-chemical characteristics of ground water samples from the bore wells and dug wells of different 22 locations of Pali district in Rajasthan . Totally 18 parameters were analysed .In many locations maximum parameters within the permissible limit and about 59% samples sites showed higher concentration of fluoride content than the permissible limit and 36 % of the water samples showed higher range of total dissolved solids than the permissible limit. The hydro-chemical facts of ground water of this area were found to be dominated by sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride . Key words: Ground water, pollution, fluoride. INTRODUCTION comprises of unconsolidated sand, gravel, silt and clay along the main river and channels of various Water, next to air is a vital natural resource streams in the area.     DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT OF PALI DISTRICT 1.INTRODUCTION Pali District has an area of 12387 km². The district lies between 24° 45' and 26° 29' north latitudes and 72°47' and 74°18' east longitudes. The Great Aravali hills link Pali district with Ajmer, Rajsamand, Udaipur and Sirohi Districts. Western Rajasthan's famous river Luni and its tributaries Jawai, Mithadi, Sukadi, Bandi and Guhiabala flows through Pali district. The Largest dams of this area Jawai Dam and Sardar Samand Dam are also located in Pali district. While plains of this district are 180 to 500 meters above sea level, Pali city the district headquarter, is situated at 212 meters above sea level. While the highest point of Aravali hills in the district measures 1099 meters, the famous Ranakpur temples are situated in the footsteps of Aravalis. Parashuram Mahadev temple, a place of worship for millions of devotees of Lord Shiva, is also located in the Pali district on the hights of aravali range. District is well connected by rail i.e., Delhi- Ahemdabad section of North-Western Railway and Jodhpur-Marwar section of North-Western Railway. A net-work of roads is spread over the district connecting many villages and important cities of Rajasthan like Jodhpur, Jaipur Ajmer, Sirohi, Udaipur etc. 2.OVER VIEW OF MINING ACTIVITY IN THE DISTRICT. The mineral wealth of the district is largely non metallic. The chemical grade limestone, Quartz, Feldspar and Calcite produced in the district is also known for their quality. Other minerals are Asbestos, Soap stone, Magnesite, Gypsum, Marble and Barytes. The district has substantial resources of Quartz feldspar, Asbestos.

Saturday, 15th : (In Delhi) Delhi, the capital of India, has been the seat of power of a number of dynasties – the Rajputs, the Afghans, the Turks and the Mughals who continued their imperial line until the British. This morning, we trishaw through the historical part, also known as Old Delhi to see the bustling jumble of shops, temples, mosques. The tour concludes with a visit to Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. Return to the hotel for lunch at their delightful `1911’ restaurant. This afternoon, drive around New Delhi with its majestic boulevards and grand government buildings. India Gate, Delhi's triumphal arch, the residence of India's President, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, a complex of buildings that mix Mughal and Western architectural styles. We visit the Tomb of Humayun, beautifully restored, this monument is an early example of Mughal architecture. Overnight at the Imperial hotel. Sunday, 16th : (Delhi – Agra) 2 After breakfast, drive to Agra (approx. 3 ½ hours). (Presently, there are no flights connecting Delhi and Agra). In Agra, we stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas. The rooms & public areas afford uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal. Lunch is at the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed to see the Taj Mahal – The ivory gate through which all dreams pass.
