FABULOUS HERITAGE Brim full of history, west Norfolk is a treasure trove of historic houses, windmills, , some beautiful churches and a host of heritage sites.

A highlight of any trip to West Norfolk is a visit to Sandringham House, the Royal Family’s country retreat. The house, museum, country park and gar- dens are all a delight. Not far away is splendid Houghton Hall built in the 1720s by Sir Robert Walpo- le, Britain's first Prime Minister. The hall is one of the finest Palladian houses in the country, set in 450 acres of Deer Park. It has a 5 acre award-winning walled garden and amazing model soldier collection. Just along the coast the stately Hall and its parkland is well worth a visit, whilst Oxburgh Hall near Downham Market is a beautiful Tudor house with a magnificent and moat. The stunning village of Cas- tle Acre is truly rich in history, with the 12th century Priory, ruins of its Norman castle and Gate at the heart of the village. Just north of King’s Lynn is .
