This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate fluoride contamination in ground water of the central part of Nagaur district where ground water is the main source of drinking as well as irrigation. Samples from hand pumps and tube wells of forty four stations were analyzed during the summer session with the help of standard methods of APHA. The analytical results show that eleven ground water samples are unfit for drinking purpose. A map has been prepared using an inverse distance weighting method which shows the fluoride concentration in the study area. The maximum con- centration was recorded in the Sirsi village while the minimum was found in Sabalpura. First meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee was held on 13.04.2021 and 16.4.2021 online through video conferencing to review the impact assessment report/Comprehensive Hydro- geological report submitted by the firm for grant of No Objection Certificate for abstraction of groundwater as per the guidelines. List pf participants is enclosed. Dr. Uma Kapoor, Regional Director, Central Ground Water Authority & Convenor welcomed all the members of the committee. After a brief introduction of all the participants, Chairman gave his opening remarks. He informed the Committee Members about the NGT order, in pursuance of which the present committee had been constituted. As per the revised guidelines notified by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, all industries located in Over-exploited, Critical and Semi-critical (OCS) assessment units drawing ground water in excess of 100 KLD are required to submit impact assessment report. Further, infrastructure dewatering projects are required to submit impact assessment report along with groundwater modelling covering area within 5 km radius. Furthermore, all mining projects irrespective of dewatering are required to submit comprehensive hydrogeological reports of core and buffer zones in the radius of 2 and 10 sq.km respectively. Further industries and mining projects located in OCS assessment units and drawing > 500 KLD in areas underlain by hard rock and > 1000 KLD in areas underlain by soft rock/ alluvium are required to conduct modelling studies to predict the impact and plan mitigation measures in all categories of assessment units. -

PREFACE Karnataka is a State that has a long and diverse history exhibiting itself in the historic caves, forts, places of worship and palaces and through arts and artifacts preserved in museums. If history is to be conserved for the generations to come; historic places, monuments and museums need to be conserved. The conservation of historic structures and sites is guided by the tenet of minimum intervention and retention of original fabric, so that no information that it provides to the viewer/academician is lost. Funds provided under the 12th Finance Commission were utilized by the Department of Archeology, Museums and Heritage of the Government of Karnataka to conserve historic structures, sites and museums in Karnataka. An evaluation of this work was entrusted by the Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics Department of Government of Karnataka to Karnataka Evaluation Authority (KEA). The KEA outsourced this study to READI-INDIA, Dharwad. They completed the evaluation and presented their report, which, with the suggestions and inputs of the members of the Technical Committee of KEA and the Internal Assessor of KEA, was modified. The final report is before the reader. The most satisfying finding of the evaluation study has been that the work of conservation of historic monuments and sites has been done in an appropriate manner (least intervention) by the department. In the course of the study, from the findings and recommendations the following main points have emerged- (i) The declaration of any building as “heritage buildi ng” should be done by the Department of Archeology, Museums and Heritage and not by the local authority under the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, 1961. -

In Madhya Pradesh, out of 313 blocks, 23 blocks extended to over exploited category, 09 blocks are in critical stage and 57 blocks are in semi critical stage (MP Dynamic Ground Water Assessment, 2015). As per rules of CGWB, the areas where the water level could not recuperated upto 3m depth after the monsoon K e yw or ds season, will essential artificial recharge. The solution lies in harvesting rainwater in farmers‟ field which are kept or left fallow for one reason or another. Though, all Groundwater these fields may not be good enough to recharge groundwater like percolation tanks recharge, Kharif but transfer water well below at least @4 mm/day even in clayey soils. So, to decide fallow, Priority which area is to be taken first in present study a method of identification of priority is Article Info proposed. Four basic criteria to decide the priority namely, amount of annual rainfall, the soil type, stage of ground water development stage and extent of kharif fallow. -

The district is bounded by the latitudes 26°02'12" to 27°37'39" and longitudes 73°05'20" to 75°24'. The NH-65 which connects district H.Q. with Jodhpur and NH-89 connecting it with Ajmer and Bikaner are passing through the district. It is also connected with Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner through broad gauge railway line. It is oval in shape. The district forms a part of great Thar desert and a large part of it is covered by wind blown sand. The district boundary is shared by seven districts of Rajasthan viz.-Jaipur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu and Sikar. It falls in Ajmer division and administratively divided into four sub divisional offices viz. Didwana, Nagaur, Merta, and Parbatsar. Nagaur, Merta, Jayal, Ladnun, Didwana, Nawa, Makrana, Degana, Parbatsar and Khimsar are the ten tehsil head quaters of the district. -
