Cold seeps fluids provide an additional source of energy for various sulfide- and 27 hydrocarbon-harvesting bacteria, often in symbiosis with invertebrates, attracting a variety of other 28 organisms including crustaceans (e.g., Levin 2005; Vanreusel et al. 2009; Vrijenhoek 2013). The 29 percentage of crustaceans of all macrofaunal specimens is highly variable locally in modern seeps, from 30 0–>50% (Dando et al. 1991; Levin et al. -

Dai2 1 School of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, Kent Ridge, Singapore 119260, Republic of Singapore 2 Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Zhongguancun Lu, Beijing 100080, China Abstract A new genus and new species of pilumnid crab, Xestopilumnus cultripollex gen. et sp. nov., is described from waters off Hong Kong. Xestopilumnus is unusual among pilumnids in having a smooth and glabrous carapace, long, slender ambulatory legs and a flattened pollex of the larger male chela. Introduction nov., by present designation. Gender of genus is masculine. In early 1996, we examined a specimen of an unusual rhizopine pilumnid crab (sensu Ng 1987a, 1989, 1990; Ng and Davie 1991) collected from Diagnosis waters off Hong Kong. Its smooth carapace with distinctly convex dorsal surfaces, unusual Dorsal surface of carapace smooth, without anterolateral armature, long, slender legs and cristae, granules, setae or pubescence, evenly flattened pollex of the larger male cheliped, convex longitudinally and transversely. Frontal however, require that a new genus and new margin entire, without lateral lobes. Exorbital species be established for the specimen. More angle low, continuous with supraorbital margin. specimens were subsequently passed to us by the Anterolateral margin with 2-3 low, serrated, lobes. Swire Institute of Marine Science. Richard Webber* † Research Associate, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Deceased October 2005 * Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, PO Box 467, Wellington, New Zealand ([email protected]) (Manuscript completed for publication by second author) ABSTRACT: A checklist of the Recent Decapoda (shrimps, prawns, lobsters, crayfish and crabs) of the New Zealand region is given. It includes 488 named species in 90 families, with 153 (31%) of the species considered endemic. References to New Zealand records and other significant references are given for all species previously recorded from New Zealand. The location of New Zealand material is given for a number of species first recorded in the New Zealand Inventory of Biodiversity but with no further data. Information on geographical distribution, habitat range and, in some cases, depth range and colour are given for each species. The Stalk-Eyed Crustacea of Peru and the Adjacent Coast

National Museur No. 1766.—From the Proceedings of the United States National Museum, '<•: Vol.*38, pages 531-620, with Plates 36-56 * Published October 20, 1910 Washington Government Printing Office 1910 UQS3> THE STALK-EYED CRUSTACEA OF PERU AND THE ADJA CENT COAST. By MARY J. RATHBUN, Assistant Curator, Division of Marine Invertebrates, U. S. National Museum. INTKODUCTION. Among the collections obtained by Dr. Robert E. Coker during his investigations of the fishery resources of Peru during 1906-1908 were a large number of Crustacea, representing 80 species. It was the original intention to publish the reports on the Crustacea under one cover, but as it has not been feasible to complete them at the same time, the accounts of the barnacles a and isopods b have been issued first. There remain the decapods, which comprise the bulk of the collection, the stomatopods, and two species of amphipods. One of these, inhabiting the sea-coast, has been determined by Mr. Alfred O. Walker; the other, from Lake Titicaca, by Miss Ada L. Weckel. See papers immediately following. Throughout this paper, the notes printed in smaller type were con tributed by Doctor Coker. One set of specimens has been returned to the Peruvian Government; the other has been given to the United States National Museum. Economic value.—The west coast of South America supports an unusual number of species of large crabs, which form an important article of food. -
