BOCA RATON PUBLIC LIBRARY – SPANISH RIVER PRESENTS “PANTS ON FIRE! POLITIFACT LECTURE BY AMY SHERMAN” JANUARY 6, 2016, 7:00-8:00 PM

(Boca Raton, FL) – The Boca Raton Public Library hosts Amy Sherman, staff writer for the Herald and PolitiFact , in “Pants on Fire!” Sherman will discuss the work of PolitiFact Florida, a nonpartisan website operated by the and the Miami Herald that fact-checks claims made by politicians, candidates and political parties in debates, speeches, interviews and ads. A team of editors gives each statement a rating on their Truth-O-Meter, ranging from True to Pants on Fire.

“The Boca Raton Public Library is launching a yearlong signature initiative on Civic Engagement that will help the citizens of Boca Raton engage in our community in new ways,” says Ann Nappa, Library Manager. “Providing unbiased and nonpartisan information has always been one of the roles of a public library in the community. Ms. Sherman’s discussion will help voters educate themselves on candidates and issues.”
