No member declared any interests on items on the agenda. 1332: Public participation / report from County and District Councillors. a) Report from Group Operations Director, Lakeland Land Rover on plans for the redevelopment of the existing Greenodd garage site. Prior to the meeting plans were circulated to Councillors and were referred to, An initial discussion of the proposed plans. Early days and nothing has been set in stone, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have to approve the plans prior to Lakeland Land Rover seeking planning permission. Timescale of completing the project, if work commenced May / June 2021 site should be completed by the end of 2021. Councillors recommended that the businesses on Crakeside Business Park and local residents whose properties would be affected are consulted. Also initial plans to be displayed on Parish Council’s website and notice boards to invite comments to the Clerk from local residents. Cumbria County History Trust (Database component of the Victoria Country History Project) About the County COMMUNICATIONS IN CUMBRIA : An overview Eric Apperley October 2019 The theme of this article is to record the developing means by which the residents of Cumbria could make contact with others outside their immediate community with increasing facility, speed and comfort. PART 1: Up to the 20th century, with some overlap where inventions in the late 19thC did not really take off until the 20thC 1. ANCIENT TRACKWAYS It is quite possible that many of the roads or tracks of today had their origins many thousands of years ago, but the physical evidence to prove that is virtually non-existent. The term ‘trackway’ refers to a linear route which has been marked on the ground surface over time by the passage of traffic. A ‘road’, on the other hand, is a route which has been deliberately engineered. Only when routes were engineered – as was the norm in Roman times, but only when difficult terrain demanded it in other periods of history – is there evidence on the ground. It was only much later that routes were mapped and recorded in detail, for example as part of a submission to establish a Turnpike Trust.11, 12 From the earliest times when humans settled and became farmers, it is likely that there was contact between adjacent settlements, for trade or barter, finding spouses and for occasional ritual event (e.g stone axes - it seems likely that the axes made in Langdale would be transported along known ridge routes towards their destination, keeping to the high ground as much as possible [at that time (3000-1500BC) much of the land up to 2000ft was forested]. -

Engagement to Date Presentation Morecambe Bay CCG Aims and Objectives This presentation will highlight the engagement activities carried out on behalf of Morecambe Bay CCG. Summer 2018 continued We continue to support the Carnforth Community Choir which is a community led initiative where people use singing to improve their physical, mental and emotional health. The Choir was set up by a member of the community, following a series of public events organised by Morecambe Bay CCG. The group has gone from strength to strength and recently put on a sell out concert raising £800 for the local Samaritans. Summer 2018 continued • Members of Morecambe Bay CCG continue to attend the South Lakeland Health and Wellbeing Forum which includes members from organisations in the public sector, county council, schools and third sector organisations – in order to encourage partnership working and share knowledge and resources across the area. • The July meeting included an extended discussion about the NHS Integrated Care Communities and the County Councils’ Community Wellbeing Groups; looking at how we can work better together and have a more joined up approach. Summer 2018 continued • Following a long period of high temperatures, members of the team at Morecambe Bay CCG produced and shared a press release advising the public on how to stay safe in the heat this summer. Read the full article: https://bit.ly/2lS2RMY Morecambe Bay CCG supported the Cumbria Police domestic abuse awareness campaign which ran throughout the World Cup. The campaign involved sharing the message of ‘Love the Game, Love your Family’ which underlines that no matter what the result, football should never lead a person subjecting loved ones to abuse or violence. -
