JOB PURPOSE We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive person to join our technology team. To provide effective and efficient support for the food and catering department reporting to the Subject Leader.

DESIGNATION OF POST AND POSITION WITHIN SCHOOL STRUCTURE The Food Technician will work under the direction of the Subject Leader. The role is to be responsible for supporting and assisting with the smooth running of the department.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Prepare food rooms with all equipment required for practical classes.  Clear all food rooms of equipment, dirty cloths etc. after practical lessons.  All administrative duties including photocopying, filing, collecting contributions, word processing, writing letters etc.  Ordering food, equipment and uniforms, dealing with suppliers and managing the food budget.  Preparing display boards, special event displays.  Preparing demonstration resources for food teachers.  Maintaining food rooms and equipment, washing and drying all cloths and towels.  Liaising with caretaking and cleaning staff to ensure the smooth running of the department.  Supervising students in their kitchen cleaning duties at the end of lessons to ensure a smooth transition between classes.

Other  Assisting with internal /external catering events. e.g. Masterchef  Assist Design and Technology technician with preparing of fabric.  Liaising with other Design and Technology technician including gathering contributions, orders, budgets, class lists etc.  Such other duties as may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature of the post.
