Nicholas KASIRER est doyen de la Faculté de droit de l’Université McGill à Montréal depuis 2003 et professeur titulaire de la chaire James McGill. De 1997 à 2003, il fut directeur du Centre de recherche en droit privé et comparé du Québec à l’Université McGill où il enseigne depuis 1989. Diplômé des universités McGill, Toronto et de Paris I, M. Kasirer est un membre titulaire de l’Académie internationale de droit comparé et Membre de la Société Royale du Canada. Il enseigne et poursuit ses recherches dans les domaines des rapports entre langues et droit ainsi qu’en droit des obligations, des biens et de la famille, à la fois dans les traditions de la common law et du droit civil. Il a reçu le Prix de la Fondation du Barreau et le Prix Hessel Yntema de la American Society of Comparative Law pour ses travaux scientifiques. M. Kasirer est également secrétaire du comité de rédaction du Dictionnaire de droit privé et du Private Law Dictionary ainsi que rédacteur du Code civil du Québec: Édition critique. Ses articles récents sont parus dans des revues telles le American Journal of Comparative Law, le Tulane Law Review, le Oxford Commonwealth Law Journal, la Revue internationale de droit comparé, la Revue de droit de McGill, ainsi que dans d’autres publications parues au Canada et ailleurs. A plusieurs reprises, il fut professeur invité de droit comparé à Université de Paris I.

Nicholas KASIRER is Dean and James McGill Professor at the Faculty of Law, McGill University in Montreal. From 1997 to 2003, he was Director of the Quebec Research Centre of Private and Comparative Law at McGill where he has taught since 1989. A graduate of McGill, the University of Toronto and the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), Prof. Kasirer is a titular member of the International Academy of Comaparative Law and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He teaches and conducts research on the relationship between law and language as well as in Family Property Law in both Civil law and Common law. He has been awarded the Prix de la Fondation du Barreau du Québec and the Hessel Yntema Prize of the American Society of Comparative Law for his scholarly research. Professor Kasirer is also secretary of the editorial committee of the Dictionnaire de droit privé and of the Private Law Dictionary and an editor of the Civil Code of Québec: A Critical Edition. In recent years he has published in the American Journal of Comparative Law, the Oxford Commonwealth Law Journal, the Tulane Law Review, the Revue internationale de droit comparé, the McGill Law Journal, as well as other scholarly and professional publications in Canada and abroad. He has been a Visiting Professor of comparative law at the Université de Paris I on several occasions.
