Sednaoui achieved success as a fashion, journalist and advertising photographer before his photographs of entertainment celebrities brought him further attention in the early . Among his subjects were , , Björk, Claire Danes, Liv Tyler, , Salma Hayek, Richard Pryor, Robert Mitchum and Billy Wilder. From the early 1990s he also directed music videos.

A compilation of Sednaoui's music videos and short films, the "Work of Director: Stephane Sednaoui" was released on DVD in September 2005. Filmography
