Hobby Ambassador Lyndon Olson Dear Friend: LUNCHEON HOST COMMITTEE We are proud to co-chair the Center for Public Policy Priorities’ Legacy JoAnne Christian Luncheon this year to honor a woman we admire very much—Luci Baines Elizabeth Christian Johnson. Luci has dedicated her life to community service, making her own unique contributions while continuing the remarkable legacy left by her Nona Niland parents. We are particularly delighted to honor Luci in 2014, which marks Larry Temple the 50th Anniversary of President Johnson’s War on Poverty. As a teenager, Luci campaigned for her father in 26 states. As an adult, she John Hildreth has championed a range of notable causes, expanding upon the broad and William P. From participating in Head Start eye Ron Lewis exams in the 1960s, to the recent transformational gift she and her husband Steve Murdock, Ph.D. Ian Turpin made to St. Edward’s University, Luci has made a Texas-sized Cynthia Osborne, Ph.D. impact with her many contributions of time and treasure. Luci and Ian’s R. Patrick Rodriguez recent gift created an endowment for St. Edward’s to fund enrichment Atul Varadhachary, M.D., Ph.D. activities for College Assistance Migrant Program students, one of the best Blaine Wesner programs of its kind in the country, and one that continues the Johnson family commitment to empowering the most vulnerable—a tradition shaped Bill White by Lyndon Johnson’s early experience teaching migrant students in Cotulla, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Texas. Ann Beeson Luci is a graduate of St. Edward’s University with numerous honors, returning to school after raising her family and serving as an inspiration for many to continue their studies. She is the founder and limited partner of LBJ Family Wealth Advisors, Ltd., a multi-family office that helps to manage the transition of family wealth and values from one generation to the next. CPPP also develops and advocates for public policies that expand opportunity for Texas families by building pathways to good jobs, improving educational outcomes, reducing barriers to postsecondary education, and helping families build savings and assets. This year, immediately preceding the Legacy Luncheon, the Center for Public Policy Priorities will host the highly-anticipated Hobby Policy Summit.
