Get Up and Go encourages children, young people and their families to be more physically active during the summer holidays and beyond. Children can earn stickers in a Get Up and Go passport by taking part in physical activities over the summer holiday. Those who complete their passport could win one of 1200 activity themed prizes. Completed passports will also be added in to a prize draw to win prizes for all the family. Get involved

Pop Up Play is an organised community event that offers children the opportunity to play safely in their street by closing off the road to traffic during certain limited hours.

The pop up play sessions are aimed at children and families that live within the local area and parents will be fully responsible for supervising their own children at all times during the event.

Holiday Food Provision 2018

Three million children in the UK are at risk of going hungry during school holidays. The summer holiday is particularly hard, as low-income families can struggle to cover the additional food costs over six weeks, particularly in the absence of free school meals.

Feeding Leicester are delighted to announce a programme of summer fun for 2018, with Leicester City council working in partnership with Action Homeless and FareShare East Midlands to enable local community groups and adventure playgrounds to provide summer holiday meals and activities to children across Leicester the city.

1000 Tweaks to Feeling Great aims to motivate people in Leicester to make small manageable changes to their lifestyles that will make it easier for children to live more healthily.

Make a pledge

Get involved by making a pledge to tweak your lifestyle. A tweak is small and simple, such as:

 Parents and grandparents might pledge to be a good role model, cut down on fizzy drinks and replace with water or milk, visit your local park more often or make a family favourite healthy recipe together.

 A café or restaurant may pledge to reduce the portion size of meals which are high in fat or sugar content or promote their healthier options.

 A public building might pledge to have free water easily available to visitors.

 A school may pledge to start The Daily Mile.
