Nfl Mock 2019 Draft Defense a major theme of this NFL draft This year’s draft, which begins Thursday night, is stocked with defenders who can be difference makers. Many of them play up front and will go very high. Here’s one view of the first round, presuming no trades – something extremely unlikely. NFL MOCK DRAFT • ROUND 1 PICK TEAM/PLAYER/POS/SCHOOL SKINNY 1 Arizona Cardinals New coach Kliff Kingsbury gets his ideal fit to run his scheme KYLER MURRAY, QB, OKLAHOMA 2 San Francisco 49ers Pedigree means plenty at this spot, yet another D-line early pick NICK BOSA, DE, OHIO STATE 3 New York Jets Could trade down, if they stay put will take a dynamic guy for trenches QUINNEN WILLIAMS, DL, ALABAMA 4 Oakland Raiders They fill the chasm created by trading Khalil Mack last summer JOSH ALLEN, LB, KENTUCKY 5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Too many studs on the other side of the ball to pass on one of them DEVIN WHITE, LB, LSU 6 New York Giants No QB here, defense first, if that sounds familiar in this draft MONTEZ SWEAT, LB-DE, MISS. ST. 7 Jacksonville Jaguars Tom Coughlin stays in-state for a protector for new QB Nick Foles JAWAAN TAYLOR, OT, FLORIDA 8 Detroit Lions Another team staying within state boundaries for its choice RASHAN GARY, DL, MICHIGAN 9 Buffalo Bills Did we mention this is a defense-first draft? ED OLIVER, DL, HOUSTON 10 Denver Broncos Elway traded for Joe Flacco so he goes defense here BRIAN BURNS, LB-DE, FSU 11 Cincinnati Bengals Another in-state pick, this one a gamble and not for an immediate need DWAYNE HASKINS, QB, OHIO ST. 12 Green Bay Packers High for a tight end, but there are two worthy of first-round status T.J. HOCKENSON, TE, IOWA 13 Miami Dolphins Vegas sees the Dolphins as the worst team in 2019, they go D-line CLELIN FERRELL, DE, CLEMSON 14 Atlanta Falcons Falcons see the top cornerback in this crop on the board and grab him GREEDY WILLIAMS, CB, LSU 15 Washington Redskins If he wasn’t a QB wouldn’t have cracked the top half of the first round DANIEL JONES, QB, DUKE 16 Carolina Panthers Another team looking for a developmental passer, but need help here JONAH WILLIAMS, OT, ALABAMA 17 New York Giants (from Cleveland) New York figured it could get Jones here, sorry Big Blue DEVIN BUSH, LB, MICHIGAN 18 Minnesota Vikings If they go by need, have their choice of blockers to fill a major void CODY FORD, OL, OKLAHOMA 19 Tennessee Titans Temptation could be to take a tight end or wideout here D.K. METCALF, WR, MISSISSIPPI 20 Pittsburgh Steelers Strange to see Pittsburgh with so many holes BYRON MURPHY, CB, WASHINGTON 21 Seattle Seahawks Have a wise front office and coaches that can retool and have success D. LAWRENCE, DT, CLEMSON 22 Baltimore Ravens Could go defense, but the offensive line needs bolstering ANDRE DILLARD, OL, WASH. ST. 23 Houston Texans Blocking needs fortifying, sticking with that approach, they get ... DALTON RISNER, OT, KANSAS ST. 24 Oakland (from Chicago) Jon Gruden adores tight ends who can block and catch the ball NOAH FANT, TE, IOWA 25 Philadelphia Eagles Select a college champion who they couldn’t imagine would fall to them C. WILKINS, DL, CLEMSON 26 Indianapolis Colts Don’t doubt GM Chris Ballard after pulling off a great 2018 draft DEANDRE BAKER, CB, GEORGIA 27 Oakland (from Dallas) After missing on Baker, go for other backfield and a do-everything RB JOSH JACOBS, RB, ALABAMA 28 Los Angeles Chargers Do they wait for DT Jeffery Simmons to recover from injury, or play it safer JEFFERY SIMMONS, DT, MISS. ST. 29 Seattle Seahawks (from Kan. City) The Seahawks dealt front-line stud Frank Clark to KC for this spot. N. ADDERLEY, CB, DELAWARE 30 Green Bay (from New Orleans) Packers to fill a hole in their secondary yet again JUSTIN LAYNE, CB, MICHIGAN ST. 31 Los Angeles Rams The most talented roster in the league adds to it up front GARRETT BRADBURY, OL, NC ST. 32 New England Patriots Predicting Pats’ moves on draft day is like predicting Brady’s retirement A.J. BROWN, WR, MISSISSIPPI.

  • NFL Draft 2021 Scouting Report: DE Gregory Rousseau, Miami, Fla
2021 NFL DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT MARCH 17, 2021 NFL Draft 2021 Scouting Report: DE Gregory Rousseau, Miami, Fla. *Our DL grades can and will change as more information comes in from Pro Day workouts, leaked Wonderlic test results, etc. We will update ratings as new info becomes available. Gregory Rousseau is an interesting/conflicted NFL prospect for the scouts and the analysts. I see some football people diving right in with Rousseau as the top EDGE rusher, without a doubt…or they are having a fun-fight about him or Kwity Paye as #1 – and either way, both are usually ranked by them as top 10-20 overall prospects. However, I also see some football people (a minority, but not small) who have questions about Rousseau, and they have him as the #3-4-5 best EDGE prospect and not even in the 1st-round. I went into this study assuming I would see the top 10-20 overall hype guy. I mean, it’s pretty simple…big guy, big reach, big numbers/excellent 2019 (skipped out on 2020) – how could he not be a top guy in the draft? Well, I just conducted my deeper scouting on Rousseau, and I am going with the not so tiny/growing minority – I have more questions/concerns than I do warm and fuzzy feelings about Rousseau’s translation to the NFL. *Note: I have yet to study Kwity Paye yet. Rousseau is my first deep-dive EDGE/DE prospect study. Paye is next. I will compare and contrast the two in the Paye report, I’m sure.

  • Broncos Combine Notes: Billy Turner Remains on Radar, but Not Antonio Brown by Mike Klis 9NEWS Feb
Broncos combine notes: Billy Turner remains on radar, but not Antonio Brown By Mike Klis 9NEWS Feb. 26, 2019 As the Broncos contingent led by John Elway convene on Indianapolis this week for the NFL Combine, there will be two orders of business. One, is getting a feel for free agency. Two is scouting and interviewing up to 60 rookie prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft. Elway beat just about all Broncos to Indianapolis as he began NFL competition meetings on Monday. Adding some form of replay to subjective judgment calls like the pass interference missed in the NFC Championship Game was discussed Monday, although it was characterized as a scratch-the-surface informational meeting. Here are some topics of interest for Broncos fans this week: Antonio Brown The Broncos aren’t interested in the Steelers’ controversial receiver. Among the non-starters is Brown wants to renegotiate his current contract that pays him $15.125 million in 2019; $11.3 million in 2020 and $12.5 million in 2021. To pay that kind of money, AND give up a high-round draft pick – AND have to pay even more to keep Brown happy? It doesn’t make sense. The Broncos need another veteran receiver to add to their group that includes Emmanuel Sanders coming off an Achilles injury, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick. But it won’t be Antonio Brown. John Brown would make more sense. He developed a strong receiver-quarterback relationship with Joe Flacco in Baltimore last season. From what I've been told, the Broncos are not scared off by John Brown’s sickle cell trait, and a source close to Brown says the receiver is not afraid of Denver’s mile-high altitude as a possible home -- provided the team expresses interest.
