    NFL draft 2019 grades: Evaluating the Broncos and every other team’s picks By Ryan O’Halloran Denver Post April 29, 2019 A team-by-team recap of this weekend’s NFL draft: NFC Arizona Cardinals A — The Cardinals selected immediate starters/contributors with their first five picks: QB Kyler Murray, CB Byron Murphy, WR Andy Isabella, DE Zach Allen and WR Hakeem Butler. With play-caller/coach Kliff Kingsbury, the Cardinals may not be successful, but they’ll be interesting. Atlanta Falcons C-plus — The Falcons ignored cornerback until round 5 (Jordan Miller). First-rounders Chris Lindstrom (No. 14) and Kaleb McGary (No. 31 after a trade-up) will start at right guard and right tackle, respectively. Carolina Panthers B — Liked what the Panthers did early. DE Brian Burns will team with veteran Bruce Irvin to replace Julius Peppers. LT Greg Little will get a chance to beat out 2017 second-round pick Taylor Moton and QB Will Grier could stop the revolving back-up spot. Chicago Bears D — If you factor in the Khalil Mack trade (which costs them a first-round pick), the grade would be different. But the Bears had only five picks (one in the first 125). RB David Montgomery (round 3) will back up Mike Davis. Dallas Cowboys C — No first-round pick because of the Amari Cooper trade. The Cowboys had nine picks, but only two in the top 116. They chose two defensive ends (Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks) and running backs (Tony Pollard and Mike Weber) apiece.     Dalton Risner dishes on Broncos visit, John Elway, Vic Fangio and why it would be “awesome” to work with Mike Munchak By Sean Keeler Denver Post April 9, 2019 Mike Munchak was jazzed enough with the game tape. But when Dalton Risner, unprompted, told him what a pleasure it was to talk shop with the No. 8 pick in the 1982 NFL draft, the Broncos’ new offensive line coach knew right away that this was a kid who didn’t skimp on his homework. “I think he was definitely impressed,” Risner, the Wiggins native and former All-American offensive lineman at Kansas State told The Post of his recent visit to Dove Valley. “He didn’t say anything. But he gave me a smile. “With the Broncos staff, I didn’t just say, ‘I’m a fan.’ I could tell you a fact about every one of those coaches. I hope they were impressed with what I did. I think it went great.” The 6-foot-5, 312-pound Risner, who spent Monday meeting with Washington Redskins officials, gushed about his recent tour and interview at the Broncos’ headquarters, and how stoked he was to get an up close look at the team he grew up rooting for on the plains of Morgan County. “Just for me to be able to be at the Broncos’ facility, a team that I watched growing up — I walked by Joe Flacco and the guys in the locker room,” Risner recalled. “And to sit down and talk to (general manager) Mr. (John) Elway and to talk with Coach Munchak and Coach (Vic) Fangio, that whole staff, it was just a blessing.

    Broncos combine notes: Billy Turner remains on radar, but not Antonio Brown By Mike Klis 9NEWS Feb. 26, 2019 As the Broncos contingent led by John Elway convene on Indianapolis this week for the NFL Combine, there will be two orders of business. One, is getting a feel for free agency. Two is scouting and interviewing up to 60 rookie prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft. Elway beat just about all Broncos to Indianapolis as he began NFL competition meetings on Monday. Adding some form of replay to subjective judgment calls like the pass interference missed in the NFC Championship Game was discussed Monday, although it was characterized as a scratch-the-surface informational meeting. Here are some topics of interest for Broncos fans this week: Antonio Brown The Broncos aren’t interested in the Steelers’ controversial receiver. Among the non-starters is Brown wants to renegotiate his current contract that pays him $15.125 million in 2019; $11.3 million in 2020 and $12.5 million in 2021. To pay that kind of money, AND give up a high-round draft pick – AND have to pay even more to keep Brown happy? It doesn’t make sense. The Broncos need another veteran receiver to add to their group that includes Emmanuel Sanders coming off an Achilles injury, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick. But it won’t be Antonio Brown. John Brown would make more sense. He developed a strong receiver-quarterback relationship with Joe Flacco in Baltimore last season. From what I've been told, the Broncos are not scared off by John Brown’s sickle cell trait, and a source close to Brown says the receiver is not afraid of Denver’s mile-high altitude as a possible home -- provided the team expresses interest.
