Sunday 29 August 2021 EVENING Time of Issue: 1700 hours IST ALL INDIA WEATHER SUMMARY AND FORECAST BULLETIN Significant Weather Features ♦ The Low Pressure Area over Northwest adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. The system & its remnant is likely to move west-northwestwards across Central & West India during next 3-4 days. ♦ The western end of monsoon trough at mean sea level is near normal position and eastern end is south of its normal position. The monsoon trough is very likely to be south of its normal position during next 4-5 days. ♦ The east-west shear zone roughly along Latitude 15°N in middle tropospheric levels. It is likely to persist during next 2-3 days. An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from Karnataka coast to Kerala coast. ♦ Due to above meteorological conditions: (i) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls very likely over Odisha and Bihar on 29th; Chhattisgarh on 29th & 30th; Vidarbha during 29th August-01st September; East Madhya Pradesh 29th-31st; West Madhya Pradesh; Gujarat Region on 31st; Saurashtra & Kutch on 01st September and Konkan & Goa during 29th August-02nd September and East Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during 30th August-01st September. Isolated very heavy falls are also very likely over Konkan & Goa and Gujarat Region on 01st September and Gujarat state on 02nd September. (ii) Fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls very likely over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 24 hours and reduction thereafter. Rainfall is likely to enhance further from 01st September over these areas. (iii) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls likely over southern Peninsula during next 2 days. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over Kerala & Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 29th and Telangana on 29th & 30th August. (iv) Scattered rainfall activity very likely over Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains of Northwest India during next 4-5 days. Isolated heavy falls also very likely over Uttarakhand on 29th & 30th; East Uttar Pradesh during 29th-31st and over West Uttar Pradesh on 30th & 31st August. Main Weather Observations ♦ Rainfall/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): at most places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe; at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Konkan & Goa, Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema; at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state and Marathwada. ♦ Heavy rainfall observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): Very Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh and Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal & North Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe. ♦ Rainfall Amount recorded (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today)(7 cm or more): Patahi-19; Bareilly-16; Goraul and Tuting-13; Udupi, Sirpur and Deobhog-11 each; Bevoor and Kaiserganj-10 each; Chhatarpur, Saraiya, Belthangadi, Sahaswan, Satyabama, Katekalyan, Avalanche and Bageshwar-9 each; Chinnakalar-8; Mundali, Dhengbridge, Tribeni, Shirali, Kudulu, Yellandu, Chinthakam, Anini, B. P. Ghat, Aizwal, Gopalpur, Bareilly, Shirali and Hut Bay-7 each. ♦ Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1430 hours IST of today): at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam & Meghalaya. ♦ Maximum Temperature Departures as on 28-08-2021: Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Saurashtra & Kutch and Vidarbha; at isolated places over Gujarat region and Madhya Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at many places over Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada; at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya and Konkan & Goa; at isolated places over Punjab, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Gangetic West Bengal. They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand, Rayalaseema; at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; at isolated places over Telangana and North Interior Karnataka; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Lakshadweep; at many places over South Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over Chhattisgarh and Coastal Karnataka and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 41.0°C was reported at Ganganagar (West Rajasthan). ♦ Minimum Temperature Departures as on 29-08-2021: Minimum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over West Rajasthan; at isolated places over Punjab; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Gujarat Region; at a few places over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada and Saurashtra & Kutch. They are appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over Telangana and Coastal Karnataka; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Lakshadweep; at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and near normal over rest parts of the country. Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 03rd September, 2021 ♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1. ♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures over most parts of the country during next 5 days.
