Report back from Post Office Closures Working Group. 27 September 2004 Presentation of the implications of the Government’s new Rural Strategy; presentations by Nottinghamshire Association of Local Councils and by the Greater Nottingham Partnership. License No. 100019517 Description & historic information: Churchyard associated with St Helen's Church, of which only the 12th century chancel arch and 15th century western tower survive. The parish was joined with North Wheatley in 1883, with the church mostly demolished in 1884/5i. The use of the churchyard for burials was retained. The building remains are grade I listed and Scheduled. The churchyard is roughly rectangular in shape (unchanged since the 1753 Tithe map), although with a diagonal southern boundary following the course of the Roman road (to Littleborough). Site is enclosed by hedges, with a range of significant gravestones and memorials and various mature and semi-mature trees throughout.
