Jan. 1, 2020 • ATTENDANCE: 55,211 MISCELLANEOU S NOTES • Baylor played in its second Sugar Bowl, frst since 1957. Bears are 1-1 in the Sugar Bowl. • Bears are now 0-2 in domes this season and 3-3 in the last three seasons in dome stadiums. • The Bears and Georgia met for the ffth time in program history. The Bears are 0-5 all-time against Georgia. • The Sugar Bowl is Baylor’s eighth bowl matchup with current members of the SEC. The Bears defeated Vanderbilt 45-38 in the 2018 Texas Bowl. BU is 4-4 all-time in postseason meetings with the SEC. • Overall, BU is now 84-134-13 all-time against current members of the SEC. • Baylor is in its 118th football season and third under Matt Rhule -- the Bears are 607-577-44 all-time and Rhule is 47-43 in his career (19-20 at BU). • The Bears are 117-58-2 as a ranked team in program history. • Baylor has scored in a school-record 163-straight games -- the previous school record was 90 games from Dec. 31, 1979 - Oct. 23, 1987. • Today’s game at the Mercedes Benz Superdome marks the 11th game in a dome stadium in six years for the Bears. • Today’s game marks the ninth bowl game for Baylor in 10 seasons. • The Bears are in their 25th bowl game in school history and are 13-12 all-time in bowl games and saw their three-game winning streak in bowls snapped. • Head coach Matt Rhule has secured four bowl berths as a head coach (2015 Boca Raton Bowl, 2016 Military Bowl, 2018 Texas Bowl, 2020 Sugar Bowl). Rhule is 1-2 in bowl games (did not coach the Military Bowl game, had already taken the Baylor job). • Baylor won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. • Jordan Williams, Sam Tecklenberg, Denzel Mims and Bravvion Roy served as captains for today’s All-State Sugar Bowl. TEAM NOTES • BU defense only allowed only 6 points on 14 opening drives this season - two FGs, 11 punts forced, 1 turnover on downs. The Bears did not allow a TD on an opening drive all season. • Through 14 games the Bears have held opponents to just 83 total frst half points and only 45 second quarter points. That is just an average of 5.93 points allowed in the frst half this season and just 3.21 allowed in second quarters on the year. • Through 14 games the Bears have held opponents to just 155 points through the frst three quarters. • BU fnished with 6.0 TFL, giving them 102.0 on the season, the most in a single season in program history. • The Bears added to their Big-12 leading sack total with 3.0, giving them 46.0 on the season, adding to the already set new program record for sacks in a season. • The Bears fnished the season with 3,571 yards passing, good for ninth best in Baylor single-season history. • The Bears fnished the season with 36 touchdowns, sixth most in Baylor single-season history. • The Bears had their fourth fourth-quarter shutout of the season (WVU, TCU, Kansas, Georgia) INDIVIDUAL NOTES • WR Denzel Mims hauls in a 12-yd TD pass to put the Bears on the board to start the 3rd quarter. • WR Denzel Mims has 12 TDs on the season, tying him for for 5th in BU single-season history (Terrance Williams, 2012). • WR Denzel Mims now has 28 career TDs, third-most in Baylor history. • WR Denzel Mims fnishes the season with 1,020 yard receiving, his second 1,000+ yards receiving season in his career. It is the 11th 1,000+ receiving performance in program history. He is only the third Bear in program history with multiple 1,000+ yards receiving seasons (2017, 2019). • WR Denzel Mims tied for 10th on the single-season receptions list with 5 today to give him 66 on the season. • WR Denzel Mims tied for fourth all-time with 187 career receptions (tied with Tevin Reese, 2010-13). • DE James Lockhart hauls in his 6th sack of the season. • DT Bravvion Roy collects 1 sack on the day, giving him 5.5 on the season, 7.5 for his career. • TE Christoph Henle hauls in 2 receptions, tying his career high. • QB Charlie Brewer rushed for his 11th TD of the season (18th of his career) on a 1-yd TD rush in the third quarter. It was just the second rushing TD allowed by Georgia all season. • QB Charlie Brewer’s 11th rushing TD of the season moves him up to third most in Baylor single-season history, rushing TDs by a QB. Also ranks 8th in the all-time rushing TDs on the season by any player in BU history. • QB Charlie Brewer’s 18th career rushing TD keeps him at 4th on the Baylor all-time QB rushing list, 2 away from tying for 3rd (Seth Russell, 20). • QB Charlie Brewer threw for his 51st career passing TD, 21st of the season when he connected with Mims’ on a 12-yd score in the third quarter. • QB Charlie Brewer fnished the season with 32 TDs (21 pass, 11 rush) on the season, passing RGIII (2010) to take sole posession of third in TDs in a single-season by a QB. • DL James Lynch added 1.0 TFL for 33.5 in his career, tied for seventh most in Baylor history. • DL James Lynch collected one sack on the day, giving him 13.5th sacks of the season, adding to his BU single-season mark in the category. Also adds to his BU-leading career sacks total to give him 22.0. • DL James Lynch fnished with 19.5 TFL on the season, tying him for third-most in BU single season history (Sean Oakman, 2014). • QB Charlie Brewer remains ranked third all-time at Baylor with 7,742 passing yards in his career. • QB Charlie Brewer had 24 completions on the day and remains ranked second in program history with 630 career completions. • QB Charlie Brewer had 41 pass attempts on the day, giving him 983 attempts in his career, remaining No. 2 in Baylor history. • QB Charlie Brewer has a career completion percentage of .641 (630-of-983), remaining in second in program history. • WR Chris Platt appeared in his team-leading 57th career game, starting 37 of those. He has played in more games than anyone in Baylor history. • OL Sam Tecklenburg made his 39th-consecutive start, 42nd career start overall, tops on the team. .

Some 40 bowl games were played in 2015 in addition to the College Football Playoff National Championship.1 This report uses both primary and secondary data collected from the 2014 and 2015 bowl game seasons. For the purposes of this report, total EI is defined as the expenditure of money from sources outside the bowl game area that resulted from hosting the events. Both direct EI from non-local attendees, such as spending on lodging, shopping and entertainment, and food and beverage is used to determine the total economic impact, as well as indirect impact which includes additional spending generated in the local area resulting from the bowl games.
