May 18-25 ’’Poppy Days” The period of May 18 thru 25 has been designated as "Poppy Days" by the Neptune Township American Legion Auxiliary Unit #346. It is planned to coincide with the Memorial Day Holiday. This annual event pays tribute to those veterans who have died. In the Spring of 1919 amidst complete devastation, the poppies bloomed in abundance on the battlefields of France, where so many of our men had fallen in the battle. Since September 1920, a replica of this Poppy has been the memorial flower of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.
