PhDr. Petr Bílek, CSc. Rozsah práce: 250 406 znaků Anotace Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem intertextuality v seriálu Hra o trůny z akademické perspektivy. Práce podává ucelený souhrn vybraných intertextů včetně jejich klasifikace podle různých typů významového navazování. Teoretickým východiskem jsou přístupy předních teoretiků zabývajících se intertextualitou v literatuře a kultuře vůbec. Práce se věnuje pozici seriálu Hra o trůny v kulturním mainstreamu a reflektuje diváckou úspěšnost i zklamání ze závěru seriálu. Na základě kritických ohlasů práce analyzuje proměny žánrů v seriálu a zvláštní pozornost věnuje sdíleným rysům s žánrem soap opery. Krátce pojednává také specifika fantasy žánru a možnosti jeho působení na skutečnost. V metodologické části práce předestírá uplatněné analytické nástroje a formuluje výzkumné otázky. Podle typů významového navazování je analýza rozdělena na tři části: referenční intertextualita (návaznost na historii), mezitextové navazování (návaznost na kulturní díla) a vnitřnětextové navazování (návaznost na jiné prvky seriálu). V první části analýza popisuje vybrané reference na historické události, osobnosti, zvyky a reálie. Druhá část analýzy se věnuje vybraným intertextům navazujícím na existující fantasy díla. Ve třetí části je analyzováno vnitřní navazování v rámci jednotlivých epizod a sérií, které se projevuje prostřednictvím citátů a dvou časových smyček. Výsledky analýzy jednotlivých typů jsou vzájemně porovnány, vztaženy k teoretickým přístupům a okomentovány z hlediska jejich přínosu pro diváka a funkce v narativu. Annotation This diploma thesis deals with intertextuality in Game of Thrones series from the academic perspective. The thesis presents a comprehensive summary of selected intertexts including their classification according to the different types of semantic connection. The theoretical frame is based on the theoretical approaches of leading intertextuality theorists in literature and culture in general. In addition, it reflects the position of Game of Thrones series in the cultural mainstream, both in regards of its popularity and dissapointment of viewers over the final series. Based on national and international critical reviews, this diploma thesis analyzes the genre changes in Game of Thrones and focuses especially on the shared features with the soap opera genre. The fantasy genre specifics and its possible influence on reality is also briefly described. The methodological part summarizes the analytical tools and formulates research questions. According to the different types of semantic connection, the analysis is divided into three parts: the referential intertextulity (the connection to history), the intertextuality between texts (the connection to other works of culture) and the inner intertextuality (the connection to other elements inside the series). The first part of the analysis describes selected references to historical events, personalities, customs and realia. The second part deals with selected references to the existing fantasy works. In the third part, the inner intertextuality manifested in the means of quotes and time loops is analyzed. The three types of intertextuality in Game of Thrones are mutually compared, related to theoretical approaches and commented in the terms of their value for the viewer and their function in the narrative. ABSTRACT RACIALIZATION, FEMININITY, MOTHERHOOD AND THE IRON THRONE GAME OF THRONES A HIGH FANTASY REJECTION OF WOMEN OF COLOR This analysis dissects the historic preconceptions by which American television has erased and evaded race and racialized gender, sexuality and class distinctions within high fantasy fiction by dissociation, systemic neglect and negating artistic responsibility, much like American social reality. This investigation of high fantasy creative fiction alongside its historically inherited framework of hierarchal violent oppressions sets a tone through racialized caste, fetishized gender and sexuality. With the cult classic television series, Game of Thrones (2011-2019) as example, portrayals of white and nonwhite racial patterns as they define womanhood and motherhood are dichotomized through a new visual culture critical lens called the Colonizers Template.
