calm down glitter jars What you’ll need: • Tall plastic water bottle or lidded • Microwave • Extra strength glue jar (preferably with smooth sides) • A microwave-safe container • Food coloring • Glycerin • Glitter • Dish soap Instructions: 1. Pour the water from the water bottle into a microwave-safe container. 2. Heat the water in a microwave. Stop it just before it begins to boil. 3. Pour the hot water back into the bottle until the bottle is about 2/3rds full. (Have a parent do this part.) 4. Fill the remaining 1/3rd of the bottle with the glycerin, leaving just a little room at the top for the glitter. 5. Put the lid back on the bottle and shake it gently to mix the glycerin and water. 6. Open the bottle and add 2 or 3 drops of food coloring. 7. Put the lid on the bottle and again, shake it gently to mix. 8. Open the bottle again and add the glitter. Fun tip: Use multiple types of glitter to make your glitter jar more interesting! 9. Put the lid back on and shake to mix. 10. Open the bottle again and add water so the bottle is completely lled to the brim. 11. Add a couple drops of dish soap to keep the glitter from sticking to the lid. 12. Put the lid back on the bottle and give it a shake. Then, ask yourself - Is the bottle full? Is the glitter oating around as you like? Make any necessary adjustments and then, when it’s ready, use the extra strength glue to glue the lid onto the bottle so it can’t be accidentally opened during play. 13. Let the glue dry and the enjoy your calming glitter jar!
