Zwei Erstrunden-Picks Maurkice Pouncey wurde im NFL-Draft 2010 mit dem 18ten Pick Overall von den Pittsburgh Steelers ausgewählt. Sein Bruder Mike fand nur ein Jahr später, auch in der ersten Runde, sein neues Team. Mit dem 15. Pick Overall entschieden sich die Miami Dolphins für den dominanten Center. Beide Zwillinge wurden direkt in ihrem ersten Jahr zum Starter für ihr Team. Dabei kamen sie fast ausschließlich als Center zum Einsatz. Während Maurkice 11 Spielzeiten und damit seine ganze Karriere bei den Pittsburgh Steelers verbrachte, war sein Bruder Mike für zwei Teams aktiv. Nach 7 Jahren bei den Miami Dolphins ging es für ihn nochmals drei Jahre zu den Los Angeles Chargers, wo er nun seine Karriere beendet. Ob die Verletzungen dazu beitrugen, dass Mike`s NFL-Karriere ein Jahr kürzer andauerte, als die seines Bruders Maurkice, ist nicht bekannt. Doch gerade die letzten beiden Jahre waren nicht einfach für den Center der Chargers. Während der viermalige Pro-Bowler im vorletzten Jahr die Saison aufgrund einer Nackenverletzung bereits im Oktober beenden musste, sollte die Saison 2020/2021 unter keinem besseren Stern stehen. Eine Hüftverletzung mit anschließender Operation zwang Mike Pouncey auch in diesem Jahr zu einem frühen Saisonende (September). Mike`s Bruder Maurkice galt Jahre lang als feste Stütze im Team der Pittsburgh Steelers. Darüber hinaus gilt er als enger Freund von Pittsburghs Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Die Beziehung der beiden ist so eng, dass beide bereits mehrfach öffentlich darüber gesprochen haben, ihre Karriere gemeinsam zu beenden.
