Monday section winners

James Scullin Traralgon defeated Peter Hodgson Berwick before defeating Graeme Everett Mentone to win the section.

Cliff Lynch Ivanhoe started well to defeat YalLourn's Debbie Kennedy before defeating Andy Alexandrou Karingal in the last match.

Dennis Young Stratford swell defeating the 2013 champion Charlie Ward Yallourn and then defeated Geoff van Vugt Pakenham in the final game to win the section.

John Taborsky Burden Park started with a strong win over Rob Lillis Keysborough before winning a tight game with Nat Schiavello Bundoora RSL

Rob Huddle City of Frankston defeated Mark Bishop St Kilda and Daniel Carroll Ferntree Gully

2014 winner Tony Schiavello Bundoora RSL remains in contention after strong wins over Peter Dixon Mordialloc and Danny Meyer City of Frankston.

Andrew Fowler-Brown St Kilda defeated Matt Brain Caulfield Park Alma before losing narrowly to George Lambos Yallourn yet with 6 shots up he won the section of a countback.

Mick Gardner Elsternwick Club had a good win over a young Sarah Ashby Clayton before defeating Ian Hosken Mulgrave CC to win his section.

Phil Wootten Ferntree Gully started slowly against Joan Goldie Yallourn before losing by one shot to Rod Halbish Edithvale, however he had enough shots to win the section.

Michael Barca Bundoora RSL beat Tathra NSW star Phil Burns before defeating Neale Houston Yallourn to win the section.

New Zealand international and 2016 winner Chris Le Lievre Musgrave Hill Qld made short work of Dave Smith Warragul and then defeated Frank Krislovic Clayton to win the section.

Former Yallourn member Lisa Phillips Brighton struck a blow for the ladies defeating Neil Whitelaw Mirboo North and Tommy Ristic MCC to become the first woman to win a section this year.

Jerome Coles defeated Kevin Lovett Yallourn and David Bond Berwick and said it was nice to win, however, the great lunch was the highlight of his day.

Geoffrey Aitken Bairnsdale defeated Gary Lasky Caulfield Park Alma and followed with a win over the fancied Henny Cortenbach Mulgrave CC.

CLASSIC SINGLES 2018 DAY 1

Geoff Cole Traralgon provided the upset of the day defeating Graeme Spencer Caulfield Park Alma before losing narrowly to Jammie Corney Hastings to win the section on a countback.

Angus Mac Isaac MCC had a big win over Ken Mooney Traralgon before defeating Alan Fawcett Asquith NSW.

There will be another 16 section winners on Tuesday with another excellent field of champion bowlers including 5time winner and 2018 bowler Barrie Lester Mulgrave CC, bowler Aaron Wilson Cabramatta NSW. They will be joined by top bowlers Dylan Fisher Clayton winner of the recent Richmond Union Victorian Masters and interstate stars Ben Twist St Johns Park NSW, Ray Pearse Cabramatta NSW and Nathan Pederesen Modbury SA.
