Codey Rocky learning robot for children and schools

Codey Rocky consists of two different parts. Codey is the basis of the robot and Rocky is the mobile vehicle equipped with all kinds of sensors. From the age of six, children can use Codey Rockey to create simple programs and solve problems on their own. This is achieved with the help of the App/Program mBlock 5, with which programming is very easy. Here only prefabricated blocks have to be plugged together and configured.

"Scratch 3.0 and Python are used as programming languages. The first is a complete reissue of Scratch 2.0 and is compatible with WebGL, Web Workers and Web Audio as well as the latest versions of CSS and Javascript thanks to the now complete implementation of HTML 5. Later on, the programs should be created directly in Python and already existing programs should be converted without any problems. The interpreted higher programming language is generally appreciated for its clear, concise syntax, but is much more complex than scratch and not limited to prefabricated blocks. The software is available for Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, MacOS and iOS. Surprisingly, Android users get nothing."

A number of modules are available for signal processing and I/O, both Codey and Rocky. Codey itself features two infrared sensors, an LED display with integrated LED status indicator, light and voice detection, a speaker, a six-axis gyroscope and three buttons, and a rotary control for simple commands. Rocky has a color sensor, an infrared proximity sensor and a grayscale sensor built in. All modules can be read out and controlled independently of each other. It is also possible to operate several sensors simultaneously.

The display is a grid LED display with 16 × 8 LEDs. Complex graphics are output via the device used for programming. Nevertheless, the additional display can be used for simple status displays or interaction with the user, for example. The controller has WiFi, Bluetooth and USB for communication with other devices.

To get even more flexibility out of the robot, the Codey Rocky is compatible with the Makeblock Neuron System. This offers the possibility to integrate various sensors and an IoT Cloud connection is also possible.
