Report on Accessibility in the Built Environment Roving Exhibition at Aljunied GRC

The BFA team carried out our 2nd Accessibility in the Built Environment roving exhibition at the Aljunied GRC from 3 - 26 May, 2008.

The roving exhibition to Aljunied GRC started with the GRC's "Zero Litter Month" launch day held at Harmony Park on 3 May 2008. The full day exhibition event was visited by more than 5,000 residents. Mr George Yeo, MP for Aljunied GRC, was the Guest of Honour.

Although the day's event focused on 'zero litter', BG Yeo, MP Mdm Cynthia Phua and MP Mr Yeo Guan Kwang stopped for a while at our booth to get to know "accessibility in the built environment".

Mdm Phua highlighted to BG Yeo on our “Accessibility Fund” and drew his attention to one of our posters featuring how little gadgets like an elder friendly door handle could make the lives of our elders much better.

The exhibition was well attended by the young and the old

We met quite a few parents whom agreed with us on a friendly built environment that would better the lives of their parents, their children, as well as for themselves.

Of course! We made friends and were friendly to others, too ...!

We even found a nifty accessible portable toilet located next to the row of portable toilets. The organiser has taken good care of wheelchair bound participants! Bravo!

It was indeed a day meant for all!

The posters were subsequently exhibited at the Aljunied head office from 5 - 12 May, 2008;

followed by North office from 12 - 20 May, 2008; and

Bedok Reservoir office from 20 - 26 May 2008.

They are now located at the library till 16 June 2008.
