Following a disastrous farewell show in their hometown, PULP move to London in search of success. They find fame on the world stage in the 1990’s with anthems including ‘Common People’ and ‘Disco 2000’. 25 years (and 10 million album sales) later, they return to Sheffield for their last UK concert: what could go wrong? Giving a career best performance exclusive to the film, the band share their thoughts on fame, love, mortality - & car maintenance. Director Florian Habicht (Love Story) weaves together the band’s personal offerings with dream-like specially-staged tableaux featuring ordinary people recruited on the streets of Sheffield. Unveiling the deep affection that the inhabitants of Sheffield have for PULP, and the formative effect the town has had on the band’s music (& front-man Jarvis Cocker’s lyrics in particular) PULP is a music-film like no other – by turns funny, moving, life- affirming & (occasionally) bewildering. • DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT When my film Love Story was invited to screen at the London Film Festival in 2012, my first though was who could I invite? I thought about all the people from the UK who had inspired me, and on an impulse started writing the following email: Hello Jarvis, Hope this finds you well. -

Nick Mount: Blow by blow Volume 2.Reconfiguring biography: A genre in motion I will argue in this thesis that an increased ethnobiographical life writing approach contributes to the contemporary construction of identity. Where, the extant qualities of a subject’s lived experience, is the primary objective of biographical enquiry. The creative component is a work of ethnobiographical nonfiction about South Australian studio glass artist, titled, Nick Mount: Blow by blow. It is comprised of a series of separate thematic narratives which act as entry points into more comprehensive, intimate and historical explorations of Mount’s identity, and reveals Mount’s contribution to Australian visual arts culture. The exegesis, Reconfiguring biography: A genre in motion briefly charts the evolving genre of biographical life writing. -

As was often the case in rock music, the most publicized phenomenon was also the least artistically interesting. "Brit-pop" became a derogatory term, one associated with ephemeral and dubious acts that speculated on facile melodies and trivial arrangements. If the British Invasion of the 1960s had at least revitalized the USA scene, the "Brit-pop" invasion of the 1990s... was hardly an invasion at all. The Brit-pop bands were all terribly similar and, mostly, tedious. In the end, only a few of them managed to have one or two world-wide hits, and most of them added very little to the history of rock music (other than yet another proof of the aberrations of its industry). In 1990 Brit-pop had not materialized yet as a "fad", but the seeds were already being planted by bands such as Lightning Seeds, with their retro' classic Cloudcuckooland (1990), and La's, with La's (1990), specializing in sculpting memorable and unassuming melodies. -

Rob Payne ii Abstract How does the novel capture the contradictions and convolution of feeling that characterise individuals’ subjective experience when new social and political formations emerge? Cultural theorist and novelist Raymond Williams’ concept of ‘structures of feeling’ throws into relief the processes by which characters in fiction might articulate and come to understand their emotionally ambivalent responses to economic and cultural change. This thesis aims to mobilise Williams’ concept as writing and reading practices through a thesis that comprises a creative work and a dissertation. In the first component, the creative work, I present sections from my novel, ‘All in This Together’. The narrative is set in London, England in 2012 and aims to blend pathos and humour as it explores the lived intricacies of contemporary life in an urban setting. In particular, it focuses on how individuals engage with and navigate social tensions related to the impacts of neoliberal politics and residual ideas of class. Moving between both the professional and personal worlds, the narrative sees the central protagonist question how best to live, and how to balance his individualist aspirations against his sense of community. -
