Mingling with your professional comrades, tonight we honor 560 individual nominees (many in multiple categories) for the 2018 broadcast year. As your regional Chapter president, I am delighted to represent the talented professionals working in Northern California, Reno, Hawaii, and Guam, as well as, at the national NATAS meetings as trustee. SF 7 2018-2019 Awards Judging Procedures The San Francisco/Northern California Chapter annually honors outstanding individual, news and program achievements in Northern California, Hawaii and Reno. The purpose of conferring the coveted Emmy® statuette is to provide incentive for continuing outstanding individual and production achievements within the television industry. The Emmy® Awards program is also a means of focusing public attention upon the multi-talented individuals who comprise this business and to honor them. There can be one award, more than one award or no award presented in each category. This was another great year with 937 entries (712 English and 225 Spanish) submitted in 64 English and 45 Spanish categories from the calendar year 2018, for Emmy® award consideration. All entries were submitted and uploaded through Emmy® Express and then judged online by the following NATAS chapters: Chicago/Midwest; Lone Star (Texas); Mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia); Sun Coast (Miami) and Upper Midwest (Minneapolis/Saint Paul). At least seven peers viewed and scored each entry. English and Spanish entries are judged separately. The online programs were scored for content, creativity, and execution (1 to 10 points), for a possible total of 30 points. Craft categories are judged on creativity and execution only, for a possible 20 points. After scoring all the entries in the category, the judge certified his or her scores and submitted the ballot directly to our accountant for processing. A tabulated sheet representing each category, with separate entries for English and Spanish - but not identified - was presented to the Awards Committee. The committee determined a cut-off score in each category and entries above that score were considered nominees. The committee then selected the Emmy® recipients by highest scores. The Awards Committee members made these selections without knowing which entries or categories were being considered. The nominations were announced May 8, 2019 on the chapter’s website. 227 English and 84 Spanish entries were nominated with 1,029 certificates being handed out to 560 individuals. Tonight, we will see the top scores of Emmy® award excellence. 8 The Awards Committee Wayne Freedman, KGO ABC 7 (Chair) Peter Borg, KQED Arlen Fernandez, KSTS Telemundo 48 Devin Fehely, KPIX 5 Randy Forsman, KCRA 3 Craig Franklin, Retired, KPIX 5 Linda Giannecchini, KQED 9/Franklin Mieuli & Associates (National Awards Chair) Luis Godinez, KDTV Univision 14 Richard Harmelink, KFSN ABC 30 Paul Hodges III, San Francisco Giants Productions Da Lin, KPIX 5 Joshua Dylan Mellars, KRCB 22 Luz Peña, KDTV Univision 14 Tony Martinez, KUVS Univision 19 Scott Patterson, San Francisco State University Terri Russell, KOLO 8 Keith Sanders, San José State University Julie Watts, KOVR CBS 13 Pamela Young, KHON 2 Steve Shlisky, (President) Darryl R. Thank you for joining us to celebrate fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in the media. Tonight, as we recognize outstanding achievements and bold visions, we also take pause to remember the impact of our most powerful tool: our voice. The past year in news, entertainment and online media reminds us that our stories are what continue to drive equality forward. When four states brought marriage equality to the election FROM THE PRESIDENT ballot last year, GLAAD stepped forward to help couples across the nation to share messages of love and commitment that lit the way for landmark victories in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington. Now, the U.S. Supreme Court will weigh in on whether same- sex couples should receive the same federal protections as straight married couples, and GLAAD is leading the media narrative and reshaping the way Americans view marriage equality. Because of GLAAD’s work, the Boy Scouts of America is closer than ever before to ending its discriminatory ban on gay scouts and leaders. GLAAD is empowering people like Jennifer Tyrrell – an Ohio mom who was ousted as leader of her son’s Cub Scouts pack – to share their stories with top-tier national news outlets, helping Americans understand the harm this ban inflicts on gay youth and families.

MISCELLANEOUS Phoenix Municipal Stadium, the A’s Spring Training home OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM FRONT OFFICE 2009 ATHLETICS REVIEW The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum plays host to concerts, conventions and other large gatherings in addi- tion to serving as the home for the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders. The A’s have used the facility to its advantage over the years, posting the second best home record (492-318, .607) in the Major Leagues over the last 10 seasons. In 2003, the A’s set an Oakland record for home wins as they finished with a 57-24 (.704) record in the Coliseum, marking the most home wins in franchise history since 1931 RECORDS when the Philadelphia Athletics went 60-15 at home. In addition, two of the A’s World Championships have been clinched on the Coliseum’s turf. The Coliseum’s exceptional sight lines, fine weather and sizable staging areas have all contributed to its popularity among performers, promoters and the Bay Area public. The facility is conveniently located adjacent to I-880 with two exits (Hegenberger Road/66th Avenue) leading directly to the complex. Along with the Oracle Arena, which is located adjacently, it is the only major entertainment facility with a dedicated stop on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. The Oakland International Airport is less than a two-mile drive from the Coliseum with shuttle service to several local hotels and restaurants. In October of 1995, the Coliseum HISTORY began a one-year, $120 renovation proj- ect that added 22,000 new seats, 90 luxury suites, two private clubs and two OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM state-of-the-art scoreboards.

(“SBS”) seek modification of the television market of WSBS-TV, Key West, Florida (the “Station”), to reinstate 41 communities (the “Communities”) located in the Miami- Ft. Lauderdale Designated Market Area (the “Miami-Ft. Lauderdale DMA” or the “DMA”) that were previously deleted from the Station’s television market by virtue of a series of market modification decisions released in 1996 and 1997. SBS seeks recognition that the Communities located in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties form an integral part of WSBS-TV’s natural market. The elimination of the Communities prior to SBS’s ownership of the Station cannot diminish WSBS-TV’s longstanding service to the Communities, to which WSBS-TV provides significant locally-produced news and public affairs programming targeted to residents of the Communities, and where the Station has developed many substantial advertising relationships with local businesses throughout the Communities within the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale DMA. Cable operators have obviously long recognized that a clear nexus exists between the Communities and WSBS-TV’s programming because they have been voluntarily carrying WSBS-TV continuously for at least a decade and continue to carry the Station today.
