The 2018-19 Sydney Shires Competition Shires competition sub-committee Chairman was another successful season. John Biviano presents the Frank Gray Shield On behalf of the committee and to captain Patrick Kennedy after Georges River defeated all players we would like to thank Burwood Briars at Bexley the Sydney Shires Umpires Cricket Oval on 21 February 2019 Association (SSCUA) for your ongoing support and participation across all Shires grades and Frank Gray Shield competitions. Without your involvement the competition would be worse off and not as enjoyable for the players. 2018-19 saw a number of Shires players charged for poor behaviour and on-field incidents. The final tally of 25 was higher than in the previous two seasons. This is an area we will be looking to improve next season. Better communication, training and leadership for captains, players and umpires is required. Congratulations to those members who passed significant career milestones in 2018-19 and to Simon Dodwell for being recognised as umpire of the year. Finally, thank you to David Goodman (President), Stephen Blomfield (Secretary) and the SSCUA executive for the successful administration of your association. I look forward to catching up with you next season. John Biviano Chairman Sydney Shires Sub Committee
