Scroll to see Program PDF AURELIA ANDREWS A native of Olathe, Kansas, Aurelia Andrews is currently on the music staff of the Glimmerglass Festival as Youth Chorus Master. She has been a member of the music staff at Dallas , LA Opera, Pacifc Opera SCHOOL OF Project, Intermountain Opera Bozeman, Oberlin in Italy, Aspen Opera Theatre, Butler Opera Center, and Brigham Young University. MUSIC A graduate of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera, Ms. Andrews worked on Akhnaten, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Die entführung aus dem Serail, Les pêcheurs des perles, Candide, Orphée et Eurydice, and Rigoletto. With the Glimmerglass Festival, Ms. Andrews served as a pianist for Oklahoma!, Sweeney Todd, Xerxes, The Thieving Magpie, and the world premieres of Ben Moore’s Robin Hood and Laura Karpman’s Wilde Tales. She also served as the music director and conductor for the 2018 production of Odyssey. In Arezzo, Italy, as a coaching fellow with Oberlin in Italy, Aurelia coached La fnta giardiniera, Don Giovanni, and L’elisir d’amore. Prior to her graduate work, Aurelia served as the musical director for Brigham Young University’s productions of The Mikado and Béatrice et Bénédict, assistant coach for The Magic Flute, and musical director for Utah Lyric Opera’s Cosí fan tutte. Ms. Andrews completed her graduate studies at the University of Texas-Austin, where she served as music staff for the Butler Opera Center’s productions of Ariadne auf Naxos, Into the Woods, Le nozze di Figaro, Dialogues des Carmélites, and Three Decembers. Ms. Andrews’ most recent engagements include and with the Dallas Opera, and conducting Noah’s Flood with the Glimmerglass Festival. Upcoming engagments include Die Zauberföte, Pulcinelle, and La voix humaine with Dallas Opera, and Il barbiere di siviglia with Utah Opera. Katherine Needleman, guest oboe Recital Hall 21 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. Voxman Music Building, Recital Hall Guest Recital BIOGRAPHIES Chaz’men Williams-Ali, tenor Aurelia Andrews, piano CHAZ’MEN WILLIAMS-ALI American tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali begins season 2018/19 at English National Opera, London, for the roles of Robbins and The Crab Man (Porgy & Bess) in their new co-production with The Metropolitan PROGRAM Opera and Dutch National Opera; following the London performances, he continues to Amsterdam to appear in his roles there. He returns to the United States to take on the role of Lensky (c) (Eugene Onegin) Italian Art Songs at Washington National Opera and continues to Fort Worth Opera for revival performances of Robbins/Crab Man in the Glimmerglass A Vucchella Paolo TOSTI (1846–1916) Festival Production of Porgy & Bess, which he inaugurated last summer. L’ultima Canzone TOSTI At Opera Theatre of St Louis, Chaz’men initiates a principal role in Mattinata Ruggero LEONCAVALLO (1857–1919) the world premiere Fire Shut up in my Bones by Terence Blanchard, following on from the great success of his previous opera Champion. Spirituals Recent 2017/18 season highlights include his return to OTSL as a Gaddes Festival Artist in their summer season covering Alfredo La Traviata and took the featured role of Jazz in the rarely heard Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child arr. Moses Hogan Regina — the great success of the season — alongside Susan Graham and James Morris. He All Night All Day arr. Damien Sneed returned to Washington D.C. in April to sing Don Jose (Carmen) in concert with The Washington Soon I will Be Done arr. Sneed Chorus under the baton of Christopher Bell, and he made his Florida Grand Opera debut as Arturo (Lucia de Lammermoor). Lieder In previous seasons, Chaz’men made his Kennedy Centre debut when he sang the role of Pinkerton (Madama Butterfy) in concert with Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz young artists Breit über mein Haupt (1864–1949) ensemble in 2017, and he returned to Glimmerglass Festival as a young artist following his Ständchen (1797–1828) previous-year’s success as Giles Cory (The Crucible) and jumping in to sing Rodolfo (La Bohème). Heimliche Aufforderung STRAUSS Originally from St Louis, the artist began his studies at Central Visual and Performing Arts An die Musik SCHUBERT High School, went onto Opera Theatre St. Louis Artist-in-Training program for two years, and then studied voice at the University of Iowa School of Music, where he excelled in his many ——— Intermission ——— appearances in opera and oratorio performances including La Traviata, The Elixir of Love, and Romeo et Juliette.

Opera Arias Chaz’men made his professional opera debut in 2008 in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre. His other roles are Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Bill (Flight), Ya lyublyuvas (Eugene Onegin) (1840–1893) Cavaradossi (Tosca), Edgardo (Lucia de Lammermoor), Romeo (Romeo et Juliette), and Nemorino La feur que tu m’avais je tee (Carmen) (1838–1875) (L’elisir d’amore). E lucevan le stelle (Tosca) (1858–1924) The artist has broad musical interests and lends his great talents to other genres, appearing Che gelida manina (La Bohème) PUCCINI professionally with a jazz ensemble alongside his drummer father, and in blues venues of renown Una furtiva lagrima (L’elisir d’Amore) (1797–1848) in the United States. He is also an experienced music director and conductor in smaller companies La donna e mobile (Rigoletto) Guiseppe VERDI (1813–1901) and has been known to appear as the Cowardly Lion (The Wizard of Oz) and in the title role for Shrek the Musical.
