Public Relations Department, Chandigarh Administration www.chdpr.gov.in Press Release Chandigarh, February 3:- Chandigarh is the best suitable place for establishing Film Industry in North India, said renowned Director Mr. Anil Sharma who has given movies like ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Hero- Love Story of a Spy’, ‘Apne’. While interacting with media persons today at UT Guest House, Sector 7, raving about the city beautiful Mr. Anil Sharma told that the city has a perfect location as it is well connected with Delhi and Bombay, the weather is impeccable, the people of the city are munificent, and above all, the Administration is friendly. A Good number of artistic talents, nice faces and open space is also an added asset. Cooperation from the side of administration together with availability of suitable locations, are essential for shooting a film, he reiterated. Answering to a question Gadar Director said Film Industry should have been located here instead of Bombay as the earlier film City of undivided India was at Lahore, a city in the than Punjab. Even now, Film Industry could be definitely established here if the directors, actors and people from the film line are provided with ample facilities and attractions like sites to make their own houses. Referring to a research by a leading Production House of Hollywood, he disclosed that Hindi Movies are watched much more, compared to English movies. Responding to another question Mr. Sharma said people want to see good movies may it be a comedy, emotional, family drama or action. He is sure of making wonderful comedy films as he has the same flavor but have not yet got any opportunity, he added. After doing ‘Apne’ I wanted to start with a comedy but I couldn’t start with it. Salman Khan starrer movie ‘Veer’ and Sunny Deol starrer ‘Masters’ are among his upcoming projects. Answering to another question that Mr. Sharma refuted the alleged rumours regarding the black money involved, in the making of the films. The whole situation has changed now and there are corporate houses investing in films in a big way, he added. The famous director also requested that people should not compare Chandigarh Film Festival with Goa International Film Festival as it is just the second year of it and gradually with the whole hearted support of the Administration and people of the city the Festival will be known world wide. Mr. Sharma said that though many his film like ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Hero- Love Story of a Spy’, ‘Apne’ has been appreciated but he is still trying hard to make something better than his past works. This hope of doing better keeps him going, he further added. .
