Reviews : Albums : Gorguts, "Considered Dead [reissue]" Gorguts Considered Dead [reissue] Metal Mind Records 2007 REVIEW LINKS Email the reviewer Email this review to a friend DISCUSS THIS REVIEW Ye Gods, I am old. I am displeased that this CD reminds me of this wretched truth. Has it been 16 years since this first rocked my world? I was supposed to see these guys with Atheist and Cannibal Corpse once, but the club didn't let in anyone under eighteen at the time so I could not go. Also it was in a bad neighborhood, Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus Rex on every block. Most of them were on drugs to boot. Luckily the day of the drug crazed dinosaur has passed and we are threatened only by a lot of other things. Enough of my senile recollections, let the metal geezer get this review out before Alzheimer's robs me of the ability to know what in the hell I'm talking about. I loved this album back in the day, although I don't listen to a ton anymore. It is however an interesting contrast to the last two albums Gorguts did. Before every French-Canadian became a god with a musical instrument or a hockey stick. It used to be they only did hockey. This might be the album where that really started to change, although Voivod had been working the province for quite some time. This was a decent record, even at the time. This is more mid-paced to slow as opposed to the faster stuff I prefer. -

Tours roll across the coun- try like mobile homes in a Florida hurricane. The most memo- rable for this magazine/bar owner were the Warped Tour and Wakestock, where such bands as Bad Religion, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Closet Monster, The Trews and Crowned King had audiences in mosh-pit frenzies. At Wakestock, in Wasaga Beach, Ont., Gasoline, Fox Racing, and Bluenotes rocked so hard at their two-day private cottage party that local authorities shut down the stage after Magneta Lane and Flashlight Brown. Poor Moneen didn't get to crush the eardrums of the drunken revellers. That was day one! Day two was an even bigger party with the live music again shut down. The Reason, Moneen and Crowned King owned the patio until Alexisonfire and their crew rolled into party. Gasoline would also like to thank Chuck (see cover story) and other UN officials for making sure that the boys in Sum41 made it back to the Bovine for another cocktail, despite the nearby mortar and gunfire during their Warchild excursion. (May 2008) Troy James Sacquety, B.A., Mary Washington College; M.A., University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Brian McAllister Linn The Office of Strategic Services (OSS), was created during the Second World War to be a central collector, producer, and disseminator of foreign intelligence. Its secondary role of clandestine warfare did not come easily. One OSS unit, Detachment 101, surmounted numerous problems to become a model clandestine and special operations unit able to create its own indigenous army that waged war behind Japanese lines in Burma. This study uses previously unexplored primary source materials from the OSS records held by the U.S. National Archives to examine the unit and its organizational changes from 1942 to 1945. Detachment 101 succeeded in the China-Burma-India Theater (CBI) for the simple reason that it was able to function independent of immediate control from either the U.S.
