Contact: Paula Paggi, PR/Media Relations Manager (972) 342-4991 ❘ [email protected] Dallas Theater Center Expands Community Engagement Programming ® DALLAS (October 15, 2020) - 2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center offers even more virtual options. They’ve added additional free virtual workshops with Public Works Dallas. People of all ages and skill levels can learn from professional artists. Workshops started October 12 and run through November 16. “Our year-round Public Works Dallas program provides fun and exciting opportunities for people of all ages and experiences throughout our city to experience the joys of making theater in free workshops, classes and large scale public performances. While we are sheltering in place during the pandemic, we're pivoting to provide these opportunities online,” said Kevin Moriarty, Enloe/Rose Artistic Director, Dallas Theater Center. “Though we miss gathering in person, we remain committed to being of service to our community and invite everyone to join us.” Public Works Dallas is holding virtual workshops on a variety of topics including performance, singing, and storytelling. The workshops are in collaboration with Bachman Lake Together Family Center, City of Dallas Beckley Saner & Janie C. Turner Recreation Center, and Jubilee Park and Community Center. The virtual setting allows a variety of people from across the metroplex to come together in a safe and supportive environment. “The Public Works Dallas community is resilient, they have adapted with us and long to be together again. In this virtual space, not only are we expressing ourselves artistically but we are continuing meaningful dialogue with each other. -

Working: A Musical and Public Works Dallas’ A Little Less Lonely will finish out the 2020-2021 schedule. Unfortunately challenges in finding an outdoor venue have led to the cancellation of War of the Worlds. The next show will be Working: A Musical presented at Strauss Square in the AT&T Performing Arts Center July 7-18. Based on Studs Terkel’s bestselling book, this unique musical features the real-life words of average working Americans. Through original songs by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights), James Taylor and others, Working lifts up the voices of teachers, waiters, truck drivers and the essential workers who often go unnoticed but whose work uplifts our lives day in and day out. “Working is a glorious exploration of why humans strive to do a good day’s work each and every day - even during a pandemic. Simply put, we strive to build upon our parent’s dreams, to build our own dreams, and to build a future for our children’s dreams. Apart from being great fun and featuring terrific performances, this is a profound story. At its centre is Horton the Elephant’s assertion that "a person’s a person no matter how small". Obviously, these are words to live by. They are also a call to action for young people – to think and care about those who are sometimes forgotten or unseen. We hope Seussical inspires all audience members, young and not so young, to be conscious of the impact of their actions. Think how much better the world would be. To quote another song from the show "Oh the thinks you can think – if you’re willing to try..." Our show runs through the Holidays with public performances every day between December 27th and 31st. Most of us say “that wasn’t too bad, at least it is a dry cold.” For the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the start of spring brings us much enthusiasm about the season offerings for the coming year, but it also gives us extra appreciation for the concerts we are able to attend in the spring. I am looking forward to hearing Gwen Hoebig and Karl Stobbe perform Bach’s Double Concerto followed by the monumental Bruckner’s 9th Symphony. The partnership with Rainbow Stage continues with a wonderful performance of A Chorus Line, we perform great choral masterpieces at St. Boniface Cathedral in recognition of the anniversary of the diocese, and we welcome exciting young pianist Luca Buratto to the WSO. And, of course, we look forward to a performance with the irrepressible Al Simmons, our local genius. What else can we anticipate in the months to come? Well, the annual Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Spring Gala on April 26 will move to the Centennial Concert Hall and Alloway Hall this year. The event will be connected to an exclusive performance of the orchestra and cast members from Cirque de la symphonie. Gala events are wonderful ways to celebrate as a community of WSO supporters, but attending the gala is not the only way to support the legacy of symphonic music in Winnipeg.You can enter the Symphony Sweepstakes, make a donation to the WSO Friends or Maestro’s Circle Programs, or remember the WSO in your estate planning. -

Contact: Paula Paggi, PR/Media Relations Manager (972) 342-4991 ❘ [email protected] Dallas Theater Center Proudly Announces 2021-2022 Live Season DALLAS (July 8, 2021) - Dallas Theater Center proudly announces the return of an in person season complete with their first touring production! The triumphant return includes seven unique productions in addition to their annual production of A Christmas Carol and the Public Works Dallas pageant. The nine-event season begins in September. It includes two world premiere comedies; the regional premiere of an adaptation of a bestselling book; a refreshing take on an American classic; and a bold interpretation of one of the most beloved musicals. In addition, DTC will launch a new Community Touring initiative to community centers throughout the city. Productions will take place in the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, DTC’s historic home theater designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. “We are thrilled to welcome audiences back to the Wyly Theatre and the Kalita Humphreys Theater with a season of comedies, music, and stories of inspiration,” said Kevin Moriarty, Enloe/Rose Artistic Director. “We are creating productions that will produce laughter, strengthen community, and inspire healing. After more than a year of producing work primarily virtually, we can’t wait to once again celebrate the special experience of actors and audiences having a shared experience in person.” The season will feature the artistry of the theater’s Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company, as well as an expanded commitment to providing full-time, year-round employment to professional theater artists. -
